Hurt feelings? On the surface (hell, even if you dig deep below), this signing seems questionable at best. HOWEVER... Morey had managed in the past to find useful players that nobody else was looking at. PatBev comes to mind. Murhey finds value. That's what he does. He's a value finder. He's all about that value. Value is his thing. He's a value savant. Ain't no value left unturned when Morley's around. He'd get value out of a turnip. For example, remember when he signed Stephon Marbury?
The thing about MCW is that he probably won't be used as a PG with the Rockets. He will be used more as a wing player. He's a good defender who is big enough to effectively guard wings and switch onto other positions. It might be interesting to use him more as a defensive specialist who also happens to be able to pass and handle the ball effectively and can keep the offense flowing even if he's not shooting 3's.
Hopefully he will bring to our team what Shaun Livingston brings to the Warriors. He doesn't need to shoot 3's as far as I'm concerned. Use his length and athleticism on defense, and play pick n roll and facilitate on offense. Shot over the top when he gets a mismatch in the midrange. Keep it simple and he'll be fine as 3rd or 4th PG. If he's wide open in the corner, jack it up. Cant be any worse that Corey Brewer in the corners...
Everything you mentioned was on defense. He will be useless in the postseason against teams that'll ultimately leave him (dare him to shoot), while his man can roam free double teaming anybody he chooses. I don't understand this signing. The only thing I can think is they'll use him as a PG/Playmaker to penetrate & dish. Even still he'll have him limitations
I agree that MCW will not be PG in regular rotation but he will be PG during garbage time. This is very important so Beard and CP3 can stay on bench during blowouts and not worry about coming in cold if losing lead.
Harden had several low lights videos. Now MVP. MCW is going to be MVP of something this season (Shaq'tin a Fool?, bench cheerleader, Harden Strip club Uber driver)...
If he can't score, he just averages 18 ppg in China, which will not even be enough for them. Done in one season.
I know he can do a bit on the court, but this was beyond horrible, unfortunately. DM thinks he can contribute in the MDA system. That is most unlikely to happen. He shouldn't be on the team. Melton has much better potential than MCW.
They needed a player with a fancy triple name to go with the three headed fancy head coach Mike Dan Tony.
He wasn't very good as a rookie either. Nevertheless, he was a useful player at that time. He is closer to a club level player, than as a pro. Duval couldn't shoot, but he can definitely finish at the rim strongly, and pass at least at the same level as MCW. DM let him go instead of giving him a chance to develop. MCW's defense is respectable, but he wastes his steals and deflections,by trying to go solo to the rim.
Yeah, I feel like I could accumulate a similar reel for anyone who had significant NBA minutes last season. Find the absolutely worst looking plays (3 minutes out of 835 -- a ruthlessly selected third of one percent of his body of work last season). Seriously, half of those misses were contested attempts in traffic with contact. Harden misses a ton of those but usually gets the call. MCW apparently doesn't get a whistle, and that's understandable. He's also a thinner smaller younger guy. I don't feel worse about him after this 3-minute vid, at all. He's what we thought, and we'll see what MDA can do with him if he's willing to work. Low risk signing, and I still support it.
that video doesn't surprise me at all. its consistent with what his career has been. its not some random reel none of those drives are really comparable to harden. not even close
