I have a hard time imagining the Heat giving up James Johnson, unless Daryl is somehow willing to take Luke Babby or someone like that, which is frightening.
What's all of this JR Smith nonsense? Someone from Cavs camp had to have leaked this. No one wants that guy. If possible bring Bazemore or James Johnson
This is precisely why I routed Dion Waiters to the Kings (for Shumpert) in my trade suggestion. They need wing help. HOU - James Johnson, Shumpert expiring. SAC - Waiters, Nanu (+cash to offset contract) Miami - Anderson Miami saves 5M this season and they are in the LT right now so that is important. They move off 2 contracts that are 3+ years long. Particularly getting off the Waiters contract. Save on LT this year and open up some wiggle room to extend Winslow. Also clear a roster spot since the roster is a bit bloated.
We have a J.R., so why would we want another one? Smith is an older, uglier, and dumber Green, and without the strong Houston ties. I don't care what his contract is. He'd be a major distraction that we don't need, in my opinion.
One thing to note, I believe James Johnson's contract has a team option for the 2020-2021 deal so essentially only has 2 years left. That makes him a much more valuable asset than I thought since I assumed it was 3 more years as well. SAC would need picks from both Houston and Miami as Waiters contract might be top 3 worst in the league IMO as he is just not a good NBA player IMO.
I would gladly deal Ryan Anderson for either Tyler Johnson or James Johnson. James Johnson defensively is perfect for the Rockets. He is physical, smart and long. Unfortunately he is a terrible 3 point shooter. Tyler Johnson would get rotation minutes with the Rockets. He is a little bit of an underachiever as a defender, but he isn't bad. Offensively he cannot create for himself, but he does do a solid job shooting the ball and can handle point duties.
Nope, Pat Riley gave all his mediocre deals player options. Whiteside, T.Johnson, Dragic, J.Johnson, Olynyk No options on Waiters though (full 3 years)
I mean D'Antoni's system has natural floor spacing but Ennis/Tucker/Johnson is overkill unless you're up 2 with 10 seconds left and trying to get a stop.
@Deuce, I'm confused with the new pigs/wolf phrasing. I think we thought "the Wolf" was a player (to be 'relocated'), but now pigs are working to stop "the wolf" [as in Big Bad Wolf ~ GSW] ?
Johnson does have a player option in '20-'21 but no trade kicker. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/miami-heat/james-johnson-6279/
Yeah, I am still not sure about the Pigs and the wolf. If the wolf is GSW then the 3 Pigs might mean a 3 team trade to help the 3 teams. Still confused on that one.
