NO. Ennis is a good backup/bench player. Not a starter. He by himself cannot fill the defensive void left by Ariza/Luc. Melo plays 0 defense. Dont try to convince me otherwise. I am going to take his career defensive non-showing over your word/vouch for his defense. We still need a very good full time wing defender.
Because you don't throw Carmelo Anthony into the linebacker position of our defense after we just sack tapped the GSW. It's akin to bringing Ray Lewis off the bench. There is no way in hell that Mike D'Antoni or Jeffy B are throwing Carmelo Anthony into that spot as a starter. It's just not happening. Also, Carmelo said publicly after this last season that he DID NOT want to be a PF anymore. So we have that too.
Brutal? Worst case scenario is that he has a bad year and opts in, giving Daryl Morey a 2 million dollar expiring contract to play with next offseason. Who gives an F about taxes? This is a great signing. A strong tall athletic wing who shoots 36% from 3 for under two mil? If we add Melo and maybe another undervalued gem we wont miss a beat. DM is a effing genius...
