Manu, Jet came off of the bench in their prime years to help their teams win championships.

Win win for Houston as @Clutch tweeted as we will know what he's about.

The Rockets requirement of their SF is that they be good defensively and have the ability to hit open 3's. The comments of Daryl Morey, as well as the decision to let Ariza go leads me to believe that the Rockets believe that they can fill those needs easier than the fans do. The Rockets need two wing players. One of them will likely be someone like James Ennis. A player like Ennis will likely thrive on the Rockets as it fits his strong points and limits his weaknesses. This is what I believe Morey means when he says players that out perform their contract.

The most likely way the Rockets add a starting small forward/swing player is through a trade. There are players that would fill the Rockets needs at the 3 that are available, but are over paid and not in places that allow them to flourish. That is where Ryan Anderson would come into play and possibly draft picks. That could be Batum or Bazemore or Carroll. There are a number of these types of players. Will all of them be available? No, but it is very likely that some of them will be.

If for some reason, the Rockets cannot deal Anderson straight up for a 3 they like, they could move to trade Eric Gordon for a 3, and then try to replace Gordon's production through free agency with someone like an Ellington. The thought being Anthony (if he comes) would take over some of the ball handling duties.

So at the end of the day, there will be options available. They may not be there right now, but they will emerge and it is up to the Rockets to decide what they want to do.

The future salary of who we trade for is less of an issue if Anderson is dealt, because we will be operating over the cap anyway.

My point is, that it is still early and the needs the Rockets have can be filled.

Just read a tweet saying Melo waived his no-trade clause. How does this mean a move to Houston? We’re not trading for him. Could Miami trade for him?

For clarity, that was what Jonathan said yesterday. More recently, he's said Miami is a serious threat.

That said, the new stuff from Marc Stein does point to Houston.

The thing is we are already thin on guards, I can't imagine trading EG and getting someone half decent that can handle major minutes because you just know CP will miss a good chunk of games in the regular season.

We looked pretty horrendous in the regular season when Paul/Harden were injured because no one else can run the point, and I don't really buy Melo playing ball handling either, that's not an improvement from Joe Johnson playing PG.

I think they have a ball bark idea of who/what they can get for the MLE.... likely a handful of guys they have identified.

Melo did well handling the ball for OKC last year actually but its not something you want over the course of the game.

A few possessions off a rebound on the break won't hurt and he can carry the load at times if both Harden/Paul have to sit or are out.
