Yeah ok, people were saying the same thing when Morey let Parsons walk and traded Bev to the Clips. Who do you think got those guys in the first place?
They can pay him the max now or try to lowball him now and then pay him the max next year. Wonder which strat is correct....
So the Rox should have paid Ariza 15M, is that what you are saying? Luc has a separated shoulder, no guarantee he would be ok next year.
Expecting the owner to pony up 100s of million in lux tax is not realistic. If we pay Ariza 15M we may not pay Capela his money.
No, those aren't necessarily their options. If they lowball him, he's gone. He'll take the qualifying offer and make it clear to Morey and Tilman that he's going elsewhere next summer. They don't have to give him the max, but they better give him something respectable and lock him up for 4 years. If Tilman tries to go cheap now, this entire roster will be blown up by next offseason. Harden and CP3 will demand to be dealt when they realize ownership has no intention of spending money to build a contender.
Ya, Luc is the reason we’re not going to win the title this year. GTFO dude... keeping or not keeping Luc has zero bearing on our title aspirations this year. All this hand wringing over minor moves that won’t effect our chances one iota are hilarious though.
But Ariza and luc are washed. Melo will come and Capella would resign. We are already better than last year.
Ok sooo I thought this thread was being mad at Morey. But are you mad at Morey or are you mad at Chris Paul for not taking a discount? Cuz that’s what Durant did that helped them keep Iggy. So you’re mad at Paul then right? Also...a little ironic, but the player you’re referring to didn’t even play against us most of the series. The only series the Warriors struggled. Hahaha. Could have saved a bunch of money.
Morey traded Bev in a package for CP3. That was a no-brainer. But he got lucky after the 2014 offseason. D-Mo gave him a career year(well, most of one anyway) that I don't think anyone saw coming and Josh Smith fell into his lap thanks to Detroit.
PG was also saying he was only gonna play for the Lakers look at him now. Why dont you wait for terms of the deal before you blow up? What if Capela is sad because he sint making 40M dollars like Cp3 you think Capela is worth that much? Spending money to build a contender doesnt mean you spend 100M in lux tax and overpay guys like Ariza with 15M. Are you willing to pay LA prices for seats? If you are so gungho about spending like theres no tom you should pay up to tillman. I'm not spending more than I already am on leaguepass.
I have no problem with them passing on Ariza. I said so in the other thread when the news broke. 15 mil was an insane one-year deal for him(not to mention the luxury tax implications). But the Rockets tried to go cheap with Luc and got burned. If they're hellbent on using the MLE on Melo, so be it. But Melo still has to actually get bought out by OKC and he has to agree to sign here. Then there's the Capela situation. Maybe he relents and eventually resigns with the Rockets on a long-term deal(either this summer or next). But does anyone even have confidence at this point that Tilman will pony up the cash? He's already paying Harden and CP3 35+ mil each a season. I don't see him giving Clint anywhere close to that kind of money.
LOOL bro why dont you be our GM. Cause you obviously know more. CF will disrespect everyone, even ones that gave us our best season in years. Delivered us a championship roster....unbelievable.
Clint Capela is worth roughly $15 to $16 million a season. However, his agent was convinced that Capela would get a max contract from someone this offseason, and has yet to deviate from that demand. Problem for Capela and his agent is that many teams with cap space that had needs at the center position addressed them in the draft (Suns: Ayton, Bulls: Carter Jr., Magic: Bamba). Then others, like the Lakers and Mavericks, spent their money in other ways. Now, the only teams with enough cap space to make him a max offer are the Hawks and Kings, and neither seem inclined to do so. However, the Rockets can’t afford to piss Capela off right now (because of the ramifications after next season) unless the goal is to sign and trade him elsewhere. So, while we know Morey typically has restricted free agents seek out their own deals, then match, it’s for the best that cooler heads prevail and they meet in the middle concerning Capela’s contract request.
I really hate losing Ariza. It definitely softens the blow somewhat that he ended up on a bottom-feeding team, and not one we would face in the playoffs. He's been out there with Harden for essentially 100% of his mins for years at this point. This is a big loss for us. I feel that the franchise owed the dude a one year payday like he signed at the very least. In a year where Parsons signed a 15m/yr max contract, he signed with us on a very team-friendly 8m/yr descending contract. In a perfect world, we throw the dude who has been so integral to our team a large hunk of money near the end of his career as a thank you. But... I get it, it's a business with salary cap limitations, and we have a new owner. Sucks.
