There's loyalty, and then there's "do I want to win a championship". "Do I want to win a championship mode" CP3 would have accepted $10 mil less per year in order for the Rockets to retain Ariza, because he knows that Houston is the best chance he has at winning a championship any time soon. He would try not to weaken the team.
Since when has a utility role player on the decline needed to be treated or compensated better than our second star player. Ariza got PAID which is what he was looking for... and now he's part of a young rebuilding program... AND! PJ is better anyway.
This man got over on Morey, he knew we were the only team so desperate for a second star that would pay $45 mill for him leaving the clippers. We can never get a young star to go with harden NEVER, first Howard on the decline now CP3 on the decline!!!!!
Not to be a pessimist here, but with the Cousins to GS bullcrap just coming in, 62 wins and West finals loss 1-4?
Tillman is now stuck paying CP3 $40 million per year for 4 years, while getting spanked by GSW every year.
Paul taking 10 million less would change literally nothing. They would still have the same amount of money to offer outside free agents.
Do you consider Ariza an outside free agent? In any case none of this matters anymore, Rockets have no shot to win, with or without Ariza.
No. I just think it is incredibly naive to think Paul taking less money would have changed Ariza's mind at all.
No matter what, CP3 does not deserve to get 160 million. No team will give him that fat contract except us.
People don’t really get the impact Chris Paul has on a Team. He literally keeps James harden’s Head in the game when things don’t fall his way. Yuh mid-range game keeps things calm when other teams go on a run. He sees things on the floor that no one else does. He literally trains the entire team. He gets the respect of the entire league, him being president and all. He’s gonna be a great coach one day.
