We'll see, as of now I don't yet believe that he's willing to throw the rest of his career away but I suppose crazier things have happened.
No, but there would have to be a valid reason to. CP3, Lebron, and the Pips in LA aren't going to win, hell they aren't even going to be as good as the Rockets are currently so why would he do that?
Morey just liked Paul’s Feud tweet. I am pretty sure any negotiations between the two are almost done. Better question - who is going to be our 3rd star, if anyone?
The extra "skins on the wall" for LeBron, relative to the current Rockets and who can beat GSW, basically amount to one game from two years ago (2016 Game 7)... all against a pre-KD Warriors squad. Other than that, being the best team in a garbage Eastern Conference doesn't mean much. Neither do titles won 5+ years ago prior to GSW's emergence. In today's NBA, everything is about competing with the Warriors (CP's own words). The Rockets took 3 games, which is something no other team has done except for the 2016 Cavs, and most folks seem to agree they would've taken 4 if not for CP's ill-timed injury. And even the 2016 Cavs had Kyrie doing a ton of the heavy lifting, and it was against a pre-KD Warriors team. Separately, Love, Thompson, Smith, etc. were accomplished veterans who played key roles — a huge contrast from the young pups who'd be theoretically taking those roles alongside a CP/LeBron team in LA. Not saying it's impossible for CP to leave, but if he does, it would be the scenario that Woj outlined — where Houston (i.e. Fertitta) blinked at the last minute financially, and there's been no indication of that to this point. If the money is comparable, CP's not going to want out.
That would look very stupid on Paul‘s part, and I know he’s a very smart man. It comes down to winning
Yes, I do. I also think Paul would’ve felt like he was the reason as he was the one taking over in key moments of the Warriors series most of the time
Easier to “take over” when the defense is zeroing on your teammate. The Warriors were more worried about Harden than Paul. The Rockets roster is more than just those two guys. LA can not replicate the Rockets defense or offense just because of LBJ and Paul George. In the West Lebron is going to have to face Portland, Rockets, Dubs, Minny, Utah, NOP and Denver 4x a year. It’s looking likely that he goes to LA for some ridiculous reason but I can’t see the basketball reasons for the life of me. Rockets can get better. And they will. Don’t need Lebron to do so. We were basically a 70 win team without him.
