You describe a dire situation for the player with an end result greater than fifty million dollars. Whatta (sports) world in which 'we' live!
You're missing the fact that if LA signs two guys this summer then they can't sign Kawhi next summer. Sure the Clippers can sign him....a team that's trying to trade for him now.
Looks like all's quiet on the Rockets' Lebron front this Thursday morning. Current rumors involving Rockets trading up into mid-first round of the draft. Since they would likely need the same trade pieces to pull off a Lebron opt-in and trade that they would need to trade up in the draft, if there is any action on these rumors today it could be the writing on the wall we've been looking for as to Lebron's intentions.
He for sure was getting heat for not cashing in on any assets he had built with so many opportunities arising but so far it looks to have worked in his favor. Also, to his credit, he believed in Jaylen more than anyone and before anyone. So kudos to him. They could easily have kawhi right now. I just don’t think he will take the risk. Hell, I think he could trade for LeBron but I don’t think he wants that either. He really has always been collecting for Davis and I think that’s the only player he will trade his stash for. He’s adding Hayward and Kyrie to an ECF team that took lebron to 7. He doesn’t have to do anything. He acquired high picks, but more importantly he nailed those selections. I think he is the best GM in the league. I think Morey learned a LOT from him and I think that helped Morey be the 2nd best GM in the league, IMO. I’m curious what ainge does tonight. Could ainge Trade the Memphis pick, the Sacramento pick, #26, Rozier, maybe another asset to Memphis for the #4 pick and take Doncic? Literally Ainge has all the ability in the world to do as he pleases, he just often chooses not to
SAS: Every day that goes by I'm hearing more & more he's leaning towards staying in OKC since they'll back up the Brinks truck & he wants all the money he can get. Wife wants him in LA, parents want him in LA. There's pressure to stay because of the money & relationship with Westbrook. We'll see what he does there.
I think in the end there will be no significant trades and everyone will just pick in their position.
Ainge: "You don't need to see my identification." Other GMs: "We don't need to see your identification." Ainge: "This isn't the player you're looking for." Other GMs: "This isn't the player we're looking for." Ainge: "I can go on about my business." Other GMs: "You can go on about your business...." Mid second round we stay?!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGH. But it's the likely thing, isn't it.
LeBron is going to opt out of his contact worth $35.6M for next season on June 29th and become a free agent on July 1st Source: @THE_Dan_Patrick on the @dpshow this morning 6/21/18
