Radio Shakeup - 790 chooses Josh Innes over Adam Clanton

Some low down dirty dealing over there, did CP like that too; fired him on the day without notice like Braddock.

 

His Super Bowl tirade was one of the more entertaining segments I've heard from Houston sports radio in a while. Matt Thomas is the only show worth listening to on 790. Innes is just bad and Koch/Kalu talking anything outside of football is cringe worthy.

 

I quit listening to 790 when Charlie was fired. I like Braddock... listen to him on Sirius XM on fantasy football. Sports talk in Houston is horrible... amazing that we have great and exciting teams to talk about... and the quality of sports talk is so bad.

 

Moving Matt Thomas back to mid-day finally did it for me. After the Super Bowl nonsense I finally just removed 790 from my presets.

 

Listening to Adam with Rich I can't help but hear AC's nails Rich imitation; "Geeeeezze.....Oh MAN......GEEEEEEZZZZEEEEE"... An odd couple for sure..

 

It seems like Innes's enemies are getting axed one by one. His rating aren't even good how does he have this kind of pull.

 

Idk if something went down btw him and Mighty over the weekend, SportsRV & Conner were on his slot this AM out of the blue..

 

Sounds like Lance and Rich when he was at 610

 

Clanton is gone.
Braddock is gone.
Sean Jones is already gone half the year anyway.
The show will be hosted by an empty chair -- 790 trying to save money.

 

I was actually listening to 610 last night around 11. They have a wrestling show after big Sunday shows. Adam clanton called in to 610 and said he would be on there tomorrow with Rich.

And Jayson had issues with Josh from the Super Bowl incident.

Oh, I didn't notice Jones was out, too. Guess that's that.

 

If anyone continues to listen to 790 after all this, you are a big part of the problem with Houston sports radio.

I like Matt Thomas, but I won't bring myself to give that station any of my time.

 

Just don’t even switch to AM, unless there’s a game on.

ESPN 97.5, and their on air talent, are more than enough for this market.

 

790 is brutal.

 

The mid-day show with Joel Blank and Barry is a really tough show to listen to. It's more talk about Barry's personal issues, and Joel's bitter hatred for the Rockets organization. Joel also takes subtle jabs at 790 personnel, i.e. referring to certain callers as Matt Thomas callers. I think he does this because 790 is the Rockets flagship.

The Blitz is totally lame. The guys are so boring to listen to.

Lance and John in the morning is great though.

 

Damn. The only talent I like left are Matt Thomas, Michael and Ross.


ND and Greg are just two old guys.

 

Pretty much done with sports radio at this point. I was an avid listener for years, but I have no idea what this is anymore. Podcasts and satellite radio are usually what I'm listening to in the car at this point. Pandora during the day at work.

 

Pallilo is now on there from 11-1. Raheel is fine.

Other than Pallilo and may John/Lance, there really isn’t any superior radio hosts that should warrant anybody’s dedicated listening in Houston.

I’m pretty much on podcasts as well. But these guys shows are also available in that form.

Mainly just trying to simplify things for listeners that have no deep rooted allegiances but still have a desire for local sports talk.
