I don't have an opinion on whether a president is able to pardon himself. But this analysis forgets that we have a Congress with the power to remove the President. A President can't declare himself a dictator (without the support of a significant minority of the House or Senate). The only real risk, assuming we have honest people in the other seats of power, is that we won't be able to throw him in the federal pen after removing him from office.
No issues with Harris Faulkner (especially like her name) nor about the subject of her book, but I am betting you can guess what network Harris works for...
