A big who can create his own offense when the 3's aren't falling or when you're playing against a team that defends the perimeter well (Warriors/Celtics) is what the Rockets are missing. Unfortunately that would mean letting Capela walk, but if you could pick up Marc Gasol who is not happy in Memphis and has basically rotted away his career on a middle of the pack team all these years, that would be huge. He's a very good defensive player who has great touch around the rim, can shoot the 3, and plays well against the Warriors. I know he's not getting any younger, but damn, having him work the pick and roll with Harden or Paul would be fun to watch. I don't mind watching James and CP3 run iso, but they do expend a lot of energy playing that way, and having a guy like Gasol would significantly ease the pressure for them offensively.
Pick and pop with Harden and Gasol would be so deadly. The defense has to either stay with Gasol on the perimeter and that gives Harden an easier path to the rim and layup or Gasol gets a wide open 3.
If LeBron comes I won't say no, just don't want this team to waste Harden's prime by putting all their chips on someone who "might" join the team. ....and no to PG13, can't sign off on someone who gets schooled by Joe Engles & who's former team does better without him.
Biggest game of the year, and these dudes in here talking about trades, not the game, but trades. Last thing on my mind today is how to improve the roster, because that is definitely one strategy that will not be helping us tonight.
Not trying to be rude but you are posting this with no consideration of the CBA. Letting Capela walk is a horrible move and the Rockets are operating about the cap so they cannot pick up Marc Gasol. The NBA is not like other sports. You can't just get who you want, you have to understand the CBA. Even if the Rockets let Capela walk they would still be over the cap and only able to sign players at the veteran minimum. Marc Gasol is always broken down, hurt, and slow. This is the one series where Capela is not as effective. His defense is effective but not his offense. Against every other team in the NBA he is extremely effective. We are not playing a usual team but we are built to play them.
We would get torched on defense by Golden State if Marc Gasol was on this team. He doesn't have the same lateral quickness Capela has and would prevent us from switching everything. No thanks.
Anthony Davis is the only Low Post, Shooting Threat the Warriors Draymond had Trouble with. Davis did have 37 points 17 rebound game against Draymond.
And he is hyper athletic like Capela. Capela is still effective because of defense but literally no other big is going to be effective against that lineup because they will play small and take them out to the perimeter. Capela and Brow are about the only two bigs that have the athleticism to be able to stay in the game. If this was the Shaq days and he could bully them down low without the refs taking over this strategy would not have worked but this isn't the 80's and 90s NBA anymore.
lol, imagine Gasol trying to execute our switching scheme against GS like others have said, it’s Bron/PG13 or bust
I know people don't want..but we are getting melo next year...book it. N I actually am ok with it. With other guys around the edges. I think we gonna double down on iso guys
I don’t know why some guys’ mentality here is that we are 1 loss away from the offseason and not 1 win away from the Finals.
