Good thing teams never need 3rd catchers. When is the last time we used 3 in a season? Like last year? Versatility doesn't matter as much because of Marwin, Bregman, and Yuli all having versatility. I honestly don't know why we are talking about JD instead of Tyler White anyway. White is hitting .350/.471/.602 with a 26:18 BB:K ratio
Yeah, but at least he isn't afraid to go after hitters. Davis' walk rate is infinitely higher than Tyler's.
Just call him up..... he looks like a Gattis clone, his own teammates won't even know the difference.... he can even where the Gattis jersey. Just call him up and stick him in the DH role.
Astros gave Carlos Gomez 323 plate appearances in 2016 before giving up on him. Gattis is well liked on the team and will probably receive as much or more of a chance to turn it around. I don't like it but that is what I see happening. The only way they make a move earlier is injury or we start losing a ton of games.
What's more important, a guy that's going to get 400 at bats or a third catcher who might come in handy two times all year? That's like keeping ankiel on the team in case we get down a dozen runs and need a position player to pitch.
Cionel Perez allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out seven over five shutout innings in Corpus.
Corpus smacked Midland 9-2 tonight behind a 6-run 3rd. In addition to Cionel's fine outing, Alex Winkelman allowed a run on two hits, walked two, and struck out seven in three innings. Josh Rojas went 2-5 with an RBI double, a solo homer, and drove in a third run when he beat a double play. The home run is Rojas' first in AA and second of the season. Myles Straw went 3-5 and stole two bases, giving him 19 on the year. In addition, Straw now has 100 career stolen bases in the minors.
Ronel Blanco and Brandon Bielak out of the Buies Creek bullpen: 8.1 IP, 4 H, ER, BB, 12 K Blanco: W (3-1), 4.1 IP, H, 6 K Bielak: Save (1), 4 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 6 K
He's about to show the world he's on Tony Kemp's level? PCL offensive stats are comical -- Kemp is hitting .343, which is good for 12th in the league.
Milb article about teams leading in statistical categories. Quad Cities leads the minors in K%, Fresno leads in BA/OBP
No, he's probably about to start complaining about how he deserves to be in Houston again. He had to have a little talkin to in spring training with Hinch,.
