Luis Garcia, the quote-unquote #31 prospect in the Astros system according to Baseball America, walked 1 and struck out 6 over 3 scoreless innings for Quad Cities. The brief scouting report on Garcia says that his fastball gained a tick after signing, and he touched 95 last season. He also throws a slow curve and a changeup that's in its infancy. Parker Mushinski got the start and allowed an unearned run on a passed ball, a single, walked 3, and struck out 8 in 4 innings.
Grizzlies score 1 in the seventh 4 in the eighth & 5 in the ninth to come back from a 7 - 0 deficit against Las Vegas. Brendan McCurry on for the save. Fresno wins 10-8!
Garrett Stubbs is hitting .395. Would be so huge for him to break out and warrant a shot as McCann’s replacement next season.
It'd definitely be nice tor reset salary for the C position from ~$18m to $1m if Stassi and Stubbs can take over long term.
In all fainess, Burlington had Tori Hunter Jr. on the team. When it turned into a football game, his experience gave them a huge advantage.
I have no idea what kind of hitter he will eventually turn out to be, but I really like him behind the plate.
After 2 good starts, Patrick Sandoval came in in relief and gave up 10 ER on 10 hits in 1.2 innings. It would be really nice if he pans out.
There are some really improbable lines in that game. Both Watts and Sanabria got 4 outs via Ks, which means all 10 balls put in play against them dropped for a hit. They used a lot of pitchers and have a doubleheader each of the next two days, so we might see some new guys making emergency appearances in quad cities.
Ronnie Dawson has stolen two bases for the second consecutive game, giving him 8 on the year. After going 6-7 in stolen base attempts last night, Buies Creek is currently 6-6.
Yordan Alvarez is 2-3 with a couple of doubles for Corpus; the one he just hit cleared the bases and gave Corpus a 5-0 lead in the 5th. He then scored on a Taylor Jones single to make it 6-0.
After starting the season 2-16, Josh Rojas is now on an 11-game hitting streak. However, the last six of those games have been one-hit efforts. He's currently 3-4 with a stolen base (10) and just hit his first home run of the year.
He’s really starting to break out. He’s a legit pitching prospect. Especially if his command is improved.
JD Davis continue to smash the baseball at Fresno. Two hits, 3 RBIs, and a HR. He's hitting .462 with 1.286 ops Fresno up 12-1 in the 4th
