Best Marvel villain for sure. Well maybe 1a and 1b with Loki. After that its a huge drop off. Hopefully there's some depth to him.
2nd largest 4 day opening every. Only The Force Awakens had a larger opening. $242 million in 4 days........wow. http://deadline.com/2018/02/black-panther-thursday-night-preview-box-office-1202291093/
I’m going to see this movie for a 2nd time in theaters, and I’ve never seen a movie twice in theaters before I know people that have already gone twice and are talking about going again Marvel killed it with this one, DC might as well just give up
DC had the Dark Knight trilogy. Their misstep was let Zach Snyder run the DECU. Wonder Woman had a BP-type effect on the Box office (obviously not as large). However, going forward....DC has chances to correct their missteps. Thing is, Black Lightning is very good on the CW.
Black Panther bringing in Star Wars money? That's impressive. My genius plan to see this during off peak hours might be a futile endeavor. "off peak" might be in March.
I took my son to see it on Monday around lunchtime. Got great reserved seats a few hours beforehand at Memorial City Mall.
Really was a great marketing plan by marvel as well. A predominately black cast featuring first black super hero stand alone film in black history month. Never released a feature film this early in the season before. It not only catered to the huge marvel fan base but brought in a demographic that might not be inclined to see comic book movies. On top of that, it really was a good movie. Even with underdeveloped roles it still had a lot of emotion. Like others have said, if killmonger character had more time to develop he could’ve been an awesome villain. It’s hard to live up to the pre release hype but I think it lived up to 90% of the hype. It’s somewhere around 5 or 6 in my rankings for marvel films personally. Have always been a fan of black panther comics and I feel they did justice with this film.
Should have said marvel universe films. While blade is marvel, it wasn’t part of that cinematic field. Hancock, Blankman, Steel should never be brought up as feature films. Spawn was good but still not a feature.
None of those were 200 million dollar tent poles directed by a black director and with a black cast. If they had got denzel, will smith, and berry they would have pretty much cast all of black Hollywood in this movie.
