Can you chime in on what happened? Was Shans wrong saying we were releasing him, or did we indeed change our mind. Shams being wrong kinda makes us look bad, and might frustrate the team due to a Fake News release. I immediately assumed we changed our mind, and I felt bad for the guy who does get waived thinking he made it, until discussions changed. But I was assuming Shams deleted tweet was correct. Now it looks like he might have deleted it for being wrong.
MLB has trades after the deadline. I believe they need to clear waivers though (the players involved).
True. At the moment yes. Rockets still need to cut a player.....Black or Nanu or Troy Williams or Qi are still the main suspects.
Almost no chance Zhou gets cut, the coaches and staff love him and obviously he has a lot of room to grow.
I know. But you have some jokers saying Harden. What are the chances of that happening? Same with CP3 and his expiring contract.
I don't think Shams was wrong here. I think something changed. Watch to see if Black is released and picked up by another team, then released again. If so this signals something else is afoot involving possibly both Williams and Onuaku once Johnson is signed. (We need another playmaking/scoring guard that can replace one of the top 3 guards in case of injury.)
Weirdly enough, Williams played 32 minutes for RGV tonight and Onuaku 21 minutes. Both were on the court in the 4 Q as they were looking to close out the win (that they got). 28 pts for Troy (+30 for the game) 13 pts / 12 boards for Onuaku (+14) Zhou played as well as the starting center 13 pts / 5 boards (+13) in 29 minutes. And Hartenstein (possibly the future) 16 /12 in 20 minutes (-8)
Cut Nanu he’s looks like a project we don’t have time for.. it’s sucks we may have to to take the hit on his cap but at least he can’t help another contending team due to his inexperience.
You think at this point you are trying to keep the players that might develop or help in the playoffs. Seems to be Black is the most expendable by that metric.
my best guess on this is that Rockets decided they were going to release Troy after a team or teams said they would put in a waiver claim. After that, 1 of 2 things happened: Troy and his agent wanted him to be able to choose his next team, so they started asking teams not to claim him or Houston thought there was a chance a playoff team in the West could claim him I lean toward option #1.
Great problem to have. My gut says to cut black because onuaku can be a better center in this system going forward. Better passing, better touch, budding jump shot. Black is a better back up this season but that's what we got Wright for, yeah?
