$119.24 million. This does not include RJ Hunter and M Brown 2-way contracts. They are on a prorated basis to be added. I believe the hard cap is in the $119+ million. Apron takes the Rockets around the $123 to $124 million luxury tax area I speculated small moves by Morey to move money and roster spots so the Rockets could add buyouts and still stay under the hard cap/apron. Stay under the luxury tax. My understanding is that the Rockets almost had a trade involving Troy Williams and T Black or Nanu. Morey has done an excellent job find production and value at a price that should still keep the Rockets under the luxury tax in the form of JJ and Wright. Especially if someone picks up T Black or Williams if waived by the Rockets. The team that picks them up off waivers pays the remaining balance of their contracts....most $ comes off Houston’s payroll books.
Awesome addition. I was always impressed with Wright's athleticism and he is still somewhat young and is a worthy backup for Capela.
cont’d from post #301 Houston Rockets spotrac.com Luxury Tax threshold (17/18) at $119.266 mil Luxury Tax Apron (17/18) at $125.266 mil. So the Rockets have some room to add JJ, Wright and maybe another buyout (depending of cost) P.S. Bobby Brown was signed and released. So add that small amount to the tab. He was really good one year for the mavs. Maybe 3-4 yrs ago? Dude was shooting like 80% from the field and his per 36 numbers were insane. I think in his 18mpg that season he had a top 20 Real plus minus. In sure he’s been a guy on Moreys radar for quite some time because of his advance stats. I have a feeling he’s going to play really well offensively. The defensive end is where we will find out if we got a true gem or not.
To me, his service may be more important for us than JJ. Woohoo. Next JJ. Wright will be a piece we need and JJ will be piece that can give CP, Harden, EG rest during the remaining season.
Wright used to dunk on/swat more than just Scola when he was a Rocket. He also posterized Dragic, Lowery, TJ, Chandler, Budinger and many other Rockets with regularity once upon a time.
He had his ugly moments but to me he never was a game changer in that sense to really concern myself with him. Hope that changes.
