Rockets need to get their "zero State Income Tax" on. Gotta eliminate Ryan's money... then sign-match Capela last. __ Lotta things, but Morey is good.
It is really simple... if LeBron James really wants to be a Houston Rocket, Daryl Morey will make it happen. As for the article, appreciate the effort but a lot of far fetched assumptions and cap related errors.
I mean sure, it is a great breakdown and pretty good analysis, but it’s is egregiously written from a “hater” standpoint. Fails to recognize any scenario of a 3rd team. The fact that ego is a positive asset on a very good contract that could net a 1st. The idea of needing 4 1st rd picks is ubsurd. Failure to be more open to salary flexibility for on cp3 and bron and being insistent they will take no less than the absolute max is overtly pessimisticon the scenario. Also insisting capela for sure gets the full max is not putting in the current climate of the league and it’s frugalness. Not too mention him being restricted and many other factors that could very easily work to drive his price down. Omitted a lot of possibilities for the simple fact he was trying to paint an exact picture. That we won’t get lebron, when the truth is it’s very possible, and while yes we would be in the luxury tax not to the rediculous amount he offered up. Including his revision amount. . . . . . We really are making the warriors and their fans nervous. I love it...
Posting link to hoopsrumors about Ryan Anderson—trade request of 2 first round picks by teams this past summer. Read 5th bullet point down. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2017/06/latest-on-the-chris-paul-trade.html Where as the Rockets didn’t want to do that this past summer; I can see them doing it as a last resort now. We got 2 first rounders (& maybe a 2nd rounder) for you.
We're losing Gordon if Lebron comes, even if its a trade and opt in There's no way Capela gets a max deal, no way on earth. He's been good, but offensively every man and dog knows what Harden and CP3 are 80% of his offense.
25 million cap space is absolutely required. SIGN CAPELA, ARIZA AND LMM WITH BIG PAY CUT FIRST NO CAP SPACE NO THREAT TO DAN GILBERT
The CBA mistakes - particularly the thought that the Rockets are hard capped next season because they used the MLE this year makes the entire article irrelevant. That's the most likely way they get Lebron .... they aren't hard capped just deep in the luxury tax which they would most definitely pay , they probably have a quarter of their games on national TV more than making up for any tax losses - not to mention the windfall that comes with winning an O'brien Trophy.
There is a fact that Lebron has not won a title in his first year. Did not win it with Miami, did not win it back with Cavs. It took him at least 1 year or more to win it all. The way the NBA is constantly evolving and changing, we dun know what is going to happen next year or 2 years from now. Not getting any younger. All I am saying, Tilman has to consider that, spending his bucks. It's not automatic ship this year. It's a no brainer for everyone else whose pockets are not tied to the massive payroll that is coming.
There was an obvious reason he didn't win titles the first year at either stop - the total lack of depth on both squads that was caused by the respective efforts to acquire him. That would not be the case in in this scenario as they'd retain the vast majority of the roster - Harden , CP3 , Capela , Ariza , Luc , Nene , Lebron , Green , Zhou Qi and one of EG or Tucker. That's a solid rotation and not too hard to fill in holes with ring chasers to vet min deals for another point guard and a backup big. It wouldn't be an automatic anyway .... but they'd have a much better roster than either Miami or Cleveland in LeBron's first year with the team.
