Yeah, it is definitely a long shot, especially with Anderson being one of the worst contracts in the league, 20M for 10 pts 5 rebs and awful defense lol. But tbh the team right now isnt that bad the key is to resign both Paul, Capela, Luc and Green. The Rox have a ridiculous record something like 22-1 when all the guys are healthy.
i dont believe bron when he says he will only play for the max..... IF he decides to leave cle to be on a team with enough talent to contend with the warriors, then HE HAS to take a pay cut. if he wants the max then he needs to stay in cleveland. this is why i really hate the KD move. he went there AND took a pay cut to keep the team together. now any superstar who wants to have a chance at a title will also have to take much less than their worth. can the rockets even keep this current team together next season ? are we going to have to let go of green, PJ and Luc ?
Yeah, I was about to mention that this guy got the hard cap totally wrong. They even linked to CBA FAQ but clearly didn't read the hard cap stuff very closely. CBA FAQ: "In other words, when a team is below the Apron and uses its Bi-Annual exception, receives a player who is signed-and-traded, or uses its Mid-Level exception to sign a player to a contract larger than allowed by the Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, the team becomes hard-capped at the Apron for the remainder of that season."
I heard Magic Johnson just tried to hire yeezus, but he decided he has enough reddit gold to retire now.
Also, in the LeBron scenario, I don't see us retaining Capela at a max contract of $25 million. Morey is smarter than that. He will move Capela for a slew of picks and find a cheaper replacement like DeAndre Jordan who is begging to be back with Chris Paul, and who will also be a free agent this summer. Morey can throw DJ a MLE and he would pounce on it like a happy dog. Then, use the picks from the Capela trade to fill out the roster with quality role players and veterans. Book it. Capela will not be here next season if LeBron brings his services to Galveston Beach.
I have a hard time seeing Lebron not taking a decent little pay cut. The dude is going to end up very high (if not the highest) on the list of richest athletes of all time. I'm going to assume his starting salary will be 30 million, and I could even see him taking a deal starting at 25 since KD got all cute with it in GS. Same for CP3. I also can't see Clint getting a deal starting at freaking 25 million, never the less us matching that (he would be making around 30 million at the end of that deal...FOH). The most I could see his contract starting at is 20 million, and that would be almost an unmatch worthy a deal, anything over that and let the dude walk.
