FINALLY saw The Disaster Artist! F****** BRILLIANT 10/10 Surprised how heartwarming it was, great acting by both Franco brothers.
We saw The Post yesterday and loved it. The story is one that needs to be told and that is done very well here. I'll admit up front that I found the film very nostalgic. I was an adult when all this was going on and remember it well. The job the Washington Post did with the Pentagon Papers was superb journalism, in my opinion, and often obscured by the stunning Watergate scandal that followed. Spielberg's direction is outstanding, with a wonderful way of recreating the early 1970's (I really enjoyed the 1970's). Hanks and Streep deliver wonderful, larger than life performances, and the supporting actors are terrific. Go see it! 9/10
saw jigsaw yesterday. it was very meh. wasn't nearly as thrilling as its predecessors. wonder why the characters of the victims are always so unrealistic and generic.
I don't dig the torture p*rn like Hostel and whatnot, but I totally cringed and kinda turned away when that happened. Still dug that movie regardless, but damn...
I actually watched Brawl in Cell Block 99 first and some of those scenes were pretty brutal and Amazon recommended Bone Tomahawk off of it so I should have known there was going to be something brutal in there.
The crunching of bones in Cell Block made me cringe, but that was awesome. Possibly the best thing Vince Vaughn has ever done. Since "Swingers" at least. Oh, and this is happening: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragged_Across_Concrete
That should be interesting. A few weeks ago I saw a scene in that series the Punisher where he slides this guy's face over a bunch of broken glass. Seems like the new thing.
I think the movie was called "The Missing" with Tommy Lee Jones; there was a scene where the renegade Indian killed the guy's horse, sewed up the guy inside the skin, hung it from a tree over a fire and let him roast. Didn't realize that actually was a real thing until recently. The Indians in Texas were bad people; the settlers in Texas were bad people in response. I'm glad I didn't live in those times.
saw american made on a plane ride, good stuff. then i googled the story and found so many inaccuracies. wished they had gone a bit further in the movie and showed the 3 drug lords' fates/deaths.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - 6.8/10 Definitely a Guy Ritchie movie. It was more entertaining than I thought it was going to be with a more high profile cast than previously thought as well. Sets up to have a follow up movie or a trilogy. Would go see next one in theaters.
It - 8/10. Much better than I expected. Watched it with my son, who has a fear of scary clowns. His reactions at certain times were priceless.
