It just a prediction. If general manager Jeff Luhnow and Co. go the trade route, they may zero in on San Diego Padres left-hander Brad Hand, whom the club reportedly pursued in July.
He will make a fortune in endorsements that will trump even the highest paid players in baseball, the Yao Ming route
Mike Minor signing with the Rangers sucks, wanted him. Rangers pitching staff still horrendous though.
I’m assuming he signed with the expectation of starting, something Houston and other contenders weren’t willing to offer.
7 mil a year for a late inning (non closer) would be too much. I think it’s a huge mistake with his injury history too sign him with the intent of being a starter. Rangers probably overpaid 3-4 mil/year too sign him earlier than the market sets. Still a lot of great lefty options on the market
Is it really much different from Charlie Morton and his $7MM/yr contract in terms of potential and injury history?
On Hot Stove, Rosenthal stated that the Rangers plan to go with a 6 man rotation. I like how the market isn't getting out of hand just yet. I think it bodes well for Houston.
Market sets up well for Houston to sign a good lefty bat and a good late inning reliever. Lucroy, a lefty bat, and 2 proven relievers would be a great offseason.
