Accumulated PER for first team roster : Houston PER Chris Paul : 29.8 James Harden : 29.7 Clint Capela : 26.3 Ryan Anderson : 13.4 Trevor Ariza : 12.5 Sum : 111,7 GSW PER Stephen Curry :27.5 Kevin Durant : 24.6 Klay Thompson : 17.0 Draymond Green : 16.1 Zaza Pachulia : 11.6 Sum : 96.8 Conclusion : From offensive point of view GSW is only (or as much as) 86% of Houston Rockets.
Let’s wait until the Warriors decide to actually try before we make any comparisons. Right now they seem to think it is still August.
Their current stats are mostly in-line with last year's numbers This post moreso reflects what the Rockets are doing, beasting. Capela improved. Luc and Tucker are essentially, bigger Beverleys. And we have 48 minutes of HOF PG-play and MDA. The only real concern is health for the playoffs.
Their offense I would agree with this, but their defense has looked like it’s not as good as last year, especially at the point of attack on PnR.
Per = bs. Reg season Shaq coast and fake injuries so he can laze around at home and get fat. Offseason Shaq beast mode, thats where they show up. Rockets are good, but you usually dont show others your full arsenal during the reg season. Scouts from 29 other teams are there watching and learning our every plays. Regular season just a warm up. Offseason another matter.
Two things: 1. Only 5 guys play basketball?? 2. PER isn't a wonderful stat to draw any kind of conclusion from....
1. The Five best players are more important. Right? 2. So Capela and Harden's improved play from last season and higher PER is a coincidence? Rockets' great play this season and multiple players with high PERs is all a coincidence? LOL. Let's not blow-off these stats like nothing happened.
Sorry but PER is a near worthless stat. ESPN's real plus minus is much better. Hell basketball reference's BPM is even better.
I didn't see ESPN's numbers, but Westbrook's BPM last year was 15.6 vs Harden's 10.1. Russell also led everyone in 2015. No one stat is perfect. PER doesn't measure defensive impact enough. It's a pretty accurate stat overall though.
Not debating if PER is a legit stat or not; but I think you need to extend it out to the rotationalal players as well Houston (starters) sum 111.7 (going by OP’s posting) Add: Tucker 9.8 L MaM 10.8 Nene 20.2 Gordon 16.3 Black 18.8 Sum= 75.9 GSW (starters) 96.8 (going by OP’s posting) Add: Iggy 10.6 Casspi 20.5 Nick Young 13.6 David West 26.3 JaVale MeGee 21.7 Sum= 92.7 Warriors PER (starters+bench): 96.8 + 92.7 = 189.5 Rockets PER (starters + bench): 111.7 + 75.9 = 187.6 *But I do expect Luc MaM, PJ Tucker and Gordon to increase their PER with Gordon playing more w/ 2nd team Perhaps one more bench player could put the Rockets over the top. Or maybe just some more continuity with Gordon/Tucker/Luc MaM/Nene/Black together. It’s a wait and see by trade deadline kinda thing Edited: P.S. I didn’t look up Looney, MaCaw, Bobby Brown, Troy Williams, and others
PER is a per minute stat, if you really want to do some kind of accumulation, at least multiply them by minutes.
some our guys grade out well with regards to RPM too Harden leads the league in RPM by a considerable amount Ariza is 7th among small forwards, and Capela is 6th among centers CP3 will probably be near the top by the end of the season
I can't remember a regular season where I cared so little for the regular season. We need the playoffs to start.
