anyone planning on watching this over the holiday weekend? seven episodes, airs tomorrow NY Times gives it a good review: https://nyti.ms/2hSERuI
I’m going to watch it. Not sure I care for the all women gimmick, but I do want to see Jeff Daniels as a bad guy. I read he’s really good in this role... and I can’t think i’ve ever seen him as a bad guy.
Keep seeing promos for this, kind of curious. Might check it out after Mindhunters which we still need to watch.
I had forgotten Longmire was available, so I started that last night. Godless is gonna have to wait just a bit.
Don't know if it was the turkey, but It made me fall asleep, thrice. And I like dramas that take time to develop. Was it just me?
Just finished it. The series only comes to a boil in the final episode. The first six episodes are almost all build up. Very bleak. There are some positive threads written in for the ending, but they seem to me to have been bolted on after the fact.
I thought it was great. I felt like I was there as a silent observer. It was a well done production. I haven't enjoyed this genre as much as this in a while...probably since "Unforgiven" came out. I'm sure you can pick it apart here and there...but overall it was an excellent binge-watch in my book. I'm sorry if you did not enjoy it as much as I did.
I liked it. It developed the main characters really well, and I thought Jeff Daniels was particularly good. Whenever he was on screen I thought for sure someone was getting shot in the face. Hard to imagine that’s the same guy in dumb and dumber.
I just finished this and also really enjoyed it. Liked the out-of-sequence story-telling and the filling in of all the back stories. there were one or two spots that felt slow (teaching the son to ride for example) but even those made sense by the end of the final episode. Jeff Daniels is terrific! anyway, well worth the time.
I'm still unsure on whether I liked the very end or not. If you're going to do it that way, then maybe do it all the way? For whatever reason, it didn't resonate with an emotional response from me and that is what I wanted to end it. It felt like they ran out of money right at that point. lol
Wife and I have watched everything but the last episode, definitely a slow burn but really enjoyable. I'm usually not a big western guy but this is really well done, performances are all strong. It took me a while to notice that Merritt Wever was on Walking Dead, she's worlds better here......
