Agreed. If Judge isn’t a rookie he probably wins. Or at least makes it very close. A lot of talk around Houston about how Altuve was the hands down favorite but I’m not sure how you can look at those numbers from Judge and not think he’d be an incredibly deserving winner as well. But obviously I’m ecstatic for Altuve. Well deserved. So awesome.

Yeah I agree I think Altuve got it for his body of work over the past 3-4 seasons maybe they realized their obsession over Mike Trout could have cost Altuve an MVP which he has definitely earned. Judge was a solid candidate and I think might have won if he wasn't a rookie and the Astros wouldn't have been a significantly better team from the start of the season. Hard to make a case against the best player on the best team.
I still want to know what was up with his Dad breaking out a MVP hat, Altuve basically giving him the "no" nod, and his Dad holding said hat behind his back only to disappear when he went off camera and came back? I guess Altuve didn't want to rub it in? It seemed odd when it happened. Where did the hat come from? I'm guessing his Dad had it made ahead of time. Or, a gift from someone (unless the MLB sends a hat in a box that says "don't open until we announce the award"; Judge and Ramirez got empty boxes). It felt controversial.
