So lately I’ve been eating subs for lunch. So far Jersey Mike’s is my favorite, but I’m always looking for new places. Anyone know of any hidden gems? Location doesn’t matter as long as it’s somewhere in or around Houston.
A Tony Luke's is opening in the energy Corridor this month I believe. Antonini's in Webster is my local favorite. There's a place in Richmond or Rosenberg people rave about, but I can't remember the name. Someone will post about it at some point. Also, when I was a food rep I ate at a place called Rocky's Subs near Greenspoint. It was legit. But it's been about 8 years so who knows if it's still around.
Be adventurous and try a Banh Mi. There are several different variations, for example there's Grilled Pork or the "Special Combo" (my personal favorite)
They have Banh Mi bakery shops all over the town. Whenever i crave it I will go to Alpha Bakery located at Hong Kong market on Bellaire (FYI: they won't have Grilled Pork / Grilled Chicken or similar sandwiches, only things like the "Special Combo") https://www.yelp.com/biz/alpha-bakery-and-deli-houston Another good spot is Cali Sandwich & Fastfood in Midtown https://www.yelp.com/biz/cali-sandwich-and-fast-food-houston?osq=cali+pho I live in Cypress, if anyone could recommend me a good Banh Mi spot on this side of town I would be very grateful
Anybody know where I can get some Hawaiian BBQ? I miss it man. I used to get some badass chucken friend rice and it was like a mountain of BBQ chicken on some friend rice in lbk. I need my H town connect to c*m thru
A place I absolutely love and have been going to my entire life (37 years) is Mandola's Deli - http://mandolasdeli.com/menu/ . The current location is right near U of H, but growing up they were located over near Hobby. Fantastic Italian po-boys. Go for the deluxe, or the muffaletta if you are good with olives. This place is a gem that not many people seem to know about.
