Is he the likely front runner for MVP? People are talking about like he is. If so, Harden and Altuve just took 2nd place due to all-time seasons this year. Unreal.
I'd say front runner for ROY. He slumped really bad post all star break and has fallen to fourth or fifth in a lot of categories he was leading at the break. MVP to Judge would be a travishamockery, but he did return to form and live up to the hype to the point of setting the rookie HR record.
Why is that? He's 1st or 2nd in in the AL in WAR, OPS, HR, Runs, RBIs, OBP, and SLG. He has as good a case as anyone. Altuve can make a good case too. Trout would probably be at the top had he not missed so much time. There's no one else even in the discussion.
Because he trails or is essentially tied with Altuve in most of the offensive categories, has a little more power and draws more walks, but Altuve has 30+ steals to go along with his hitting and a lot fewer strikeouts. I'm a Yankee fan, so I am thrilled with the season Judge has had, but the post All-Star slump really pulled him down. The fact that the Yankees are not even winning their division while the Astros are one game back of having the best record in the AL doesn't help his case either. Travishamockery might have been too harsh, he should definitely be in the running, but I just think he is more second or third this season. That's not too bad for a rookie.
I was kinda thinking this thread might turn into it but i noticed we all just posted about that series in the red sox astros series thread lol
Damn, if he breaks out of his slump and has any big rbi’s against us this series then I really wont like him
