The last two are garbage TD's 100%, but jesus was that 4th TD to Hop a laser beam off the back foot. He threw in to triple coverage to a spot where only Hop could catch it. Incredible.
If he keeps hitting on those bombs you can't call them a fluke anymore. He seems to have a knack for it
What's weird is when he's doing Houdini he throws the ball extremely accurately. But sometimes from a clean pocket he's way off like on some of his passes to Hopkins. Makes me think it's a footwork issue.
Injuries is the only thing that can slow Watson down. He has it all right now. He is already learning the playbook at an accelerated pace, he has a strong work ethic, and he is one of the most coachable guys in the league.
He basically made derrick johnson look like trent richardson. Watson should go in as OLB on 3rd downs. (not serious)
That's not true at all. The last 2 tds? Sure But his third td got the Texans down 6 with 12 min left in the game. That is not garbage time.
Really a shame how much of a liability this defense has become. He certainly played well enough to win these last 3 games. Had the defense stiffened at all in the 4th, we would have won
He also had a "knack for it" in college, to the point teams focused to take away the long ball. At Clemson, Watson to Kevin Williams sometimes seemed like a cheat code. Hopefully the long ball to Hop & Fuller becomes similar on the Texans.
Defense will be similiar to that 2010 Texans defense. Better score atleast 30 if you want a shot at winning
You haven't read anyone else saying he's got issues with his footwork? Where have you been? That's his main issue, and it's been said probably hundreds of times here.
It's definitely better, but he still throws off an awkward base far too often. It works, but I don't like it.
Not in terms of accuracy when he's houdining vs in the pocket. For what it's worth here is pffs take: QB DESHAUN WATSON, 80.1 OVERALL GRADE Watson had a nice outing, but it wasn’t quite as impressive as the five touchdowns would suggest. He completed just six of 16 passes targeted 10-plus yards downfield. However, when he did connect with his receiver, it turned out well as those six passes went for 173 yards and 3 touchdowns. Overall though, he had an adjusted completion percentage of just 58.6 percent, third-lowest among quarterbacks through Sunday’s games.
I don't expect his footwork to improve much if he has to continue running for his life the next 11 games.
I know that, but if he had a clean pocket on a consistent basis instead of having to freelance so often, the problem would be easier to fix. Every single snap he has to stand on his toes because the o-line is sorry. It's almost risky for him to develop a comfort zone in the pocket. My main concern for Watson going forward this season is not getting hit too often while in the pocket.
