So you'd actually want Josh Smith getting minutes over Moute or Tucker at the backup 4 or Nene at the backup 5? There is also Tarik who is deserving of backup C minutes when Nene can't play. Also, Josh Smith just isn't good.

There has been something off about him ever since that playoff run. I'm not sure If it is his knees, or his back, but something is just off. He is not the same player that he was.

Tucker/Moute are soooooo much better at this point.

It was awesome when he helped get us to the WCF but he is done as a NBA player.

I think Rocket fans will always have a special place in Houston lore for Smooth.

(But that is where he will remain...)

Josh Smith isn't good? lol. Just because a player is out of the league does not mean his skillset has diminished. This is the problem with some of you. Is he the same player he was with the Hawks? Absolutely not. Can he help a team win coming off the bench in a limited role? Absolutely. Josh Smith is a very skilled player, especially defensively. He can also pass & handle the ball better than 90% of all the current NBA bigmen. Having a small ball lineup with a Smooth at the 5 leading the fastbreak is dangerous. Given the match up I could see his skillset at the 5 effective. Tariq Black can't do ANY of the things Josh Smith can do smh

Yeah, Josh Smith isn't good. The only people who think he's actually good are Rockets fans still dreaming about game 6 back in 2015. This dude is a fringe NBA player AT BEST.

Tarik Black can rebound and protect the rim while not making all the low IQ plays that Smoove does, and nobody in their right mind would want Josh Smith playing over Tucker, Moute, or Nene in the rotation.

lol, let him lead the fast break while also jacking up threes he can't make, getting to the line for free throws he can't make, and being the bad NBA player that he is

he's been out of the league for a reason...

look at the way he's shooting the ball against Utah...his jumper sucks, yet he still took 9 threes...

he wants to be a shooter so bad even tho his jumper has always been terrible

His best years have passed him by. We all like to reminisce about the Playoff Josh Smith, and rightfully so because that version of Josh Smith makes Melo look like a non.

Yep. This whole post is all types of idiotic lol. You live in a world where if a player isn't putting up superstar boxscore numbers you assume he's not worthy to be in the NBA. You only see postgame highlights. strictly at Josh Smith's skillset, he's already better than most NBA 2nd-3rd string bigmen. He's athletic, he can handle the ball, he can pass, he's a great shotblocker & weakside defender. He can also rebound if needed. His length on defensive is definitely a plus. Most these things you wouldn't notice because they aren't in the form of a 20-30 second highlight clip. I understand.

But bottom line, Josh Smith can come off the bench and give us a good 10-12 solid minutes if we want to go small. He's better than Tariq Black. Black is decent. But he doesn't have the range of skills Smith has. You're assessment of Josh Smith sounds like the same talking points before he got here the 1st time

Tarik Black is superior at the C skills we need. Screening, rolling, rebounding, switching, finishing and defending the pick and roll. Not only that, but he is young and has upside. Truly in his prime. We don't need or want a C handling the ball. We have F'ing Chris Paul and James Harden. I don't for a second want the ball out of their hands.

That's just false Bud. He is not.

He was getting 1.1 blocks and 5.7 rebounds PER36 last time he was in the league, two years ago. For comparison, Tarik Black was getting 1.5 blocks and 11.3 rebounds PER36 LAST YEAR. The choice is a very simple one. Josh Smith isn't the same. Something is wrong with his knees, or his back, or something. He doesn't have any explosion to make up for his mistakes anymore. I am a HUGE Smooth fan.

The only one posting idiotic nonsense is u. I don't need boxscores to know that Smoove isn't good so u can toss that garbage argument in the trash and gtfoh with that bull****. The funny thing is that you're the one who sounds like u only know about Josh Smith through highlights that actually make him look good.

U keep talking about Tarik Black and don't want to talk about Tucker, Moute, and Nene who I mentioned before Black because you'd be stupid to say that Smith deserves any minutes over them. Your assessment of Smith actually being good can only come from someone who sees highlights of him dunking and making a few passes but knows nothing about the serious flaws in his game.

    Trading cards maybe.
Lillard doesn't have the tools that Harden has to create and drive.
CERTAINLY not as strong finishing or going to the basket
    Glad he's not our GM.

All I know is that we need a big body with mobility and we also need playmaking from the front court.
