IMO the question isn't whether you'd trade Capella along with Anderson for Melo, but rather would you trade Anderson along with multiple draft picks for Melo. Its been reported, that the cost of taking on Anderson's contract is TWO first round picks. Lets assume Carmelo has slightly negative trade value, due to his NTC and situation in NYC. Therefore, an offer of Anderson, a 1st round pick and two 2nd round pick might've gotten it done. I think I'd do that deaI and probably wouldn't if it cost two 1st round picks. I think Bimathug on twitter said he would considering today's events.
How about we see how good OKC actually is 1st. Westbrook, PG, and Melo could all leave there next summer. We're still a very attractive destination too. We were Melo's preferred choice this entire time because we have CP3, Harden, and a well run organization. None of that has changed after not getting Melo. He was not worth the overpayment.
And the same team that was successful last year is coming back minus Pat Bev but with Paul... The Rockets if healthy could go a full game without losing a top 5 player and creator on the floor.. We never needed Melo... It would have been nice in exchange for Anderson but that's it... Can't wait to see Anderson and EG drain threes vs New York and OKC...
Yes, this is why the Knicks got him for trash then? This superstar player that can't be stopped? Yes, Eric Gordon right now is better than Melo. You are thinking of Denver Melo, he's not that anymore. You're letting his name cloud your judgment of him.
agree. Gordon is a two way player and is no doubt a better fit in Rockets than melo. can we just wave Ryan Anderson or bech him? hate his Defense
for real How are u going to demand Ariza and Gordon but be willing to take Kanter, McDermott, and a 2nd?
At this point, I'm sure NY just didn't want to appease Melo and his preferred location. NY was probably also trying to get us back for when they took one of our aging stars lol
It might blow up in OKC's face. Westbrook, George and Carmelo may not be able to play together and they all might leave next summer. It was absolutely a risk they had to take.
CP3 (and I'm sure Harden) didn't want Ariza to be included and that's who NY wanted along with Gordon. So...
They are already taking a risk with George. Might as well go all in and start over if it doesn't work out. At least we dumped the 3 bad contracts this summer.
I can't wait for this match up on Christmas. Too bad it'll be in OKC. We play them in first preseason game in two weeks.
I think in theory it was a cool idea of having Melo on the team, but I agree we probably dodged a bullet. Morey isnt stupid, he's a calculated mastermind. I trust he made the right choice, the risk was greater than the payout.
