Wouldn't it make sense for him to make a comeback as a coach instead of a player? Maybe to extend his career developing players and eventually as a coach? It's hard for me to see him coming back from a legendary career in China to prove the NBA or himself at his age. Although, the game today has changed since he's been gone.
The person that necro bumped this thread posted a current opinion article that said the Rockets should sign Marbury as a backup. That current article (not this old April fools one) is the one I quoted
Surely there are backup PGs available out there with less vintage. Besides we have Mr. My Prerogative and IT.
Yeah, let's sign Starbury, Emeka Okafor, Nate Robinson, and any other washed-up former NBA player who announces he wants to make a comeback! Who am I leaving out? Change the team name from the Rockets to the Thrift-Stores. Everything is used and thoroughly worn, but available at a good price! Who's with me?
You left out Larry Sanders. Or did you do that on purpose because he played two and a half minutes a game for 5 games last year?
He's the only one of the bunch I'd actually consider, as long as he'd be okay with 5-10 minutes a game. Good insurance policy.
Right.... April fools day a couple of years ago someone created this joke thread saying we had signed Marbury. Then a couple of days ago someone bumped that joke thread to share an opinion piece by someone who thinks we should sign Marbury now. It was confusing. Hopefully this thread will just die just like any idea of us possibly signed Marbury.
Gotcha, I couldn't see whole quote, and I agree w/ you regardless, it'd be an awful signing if it were real.
