When your job is to be big, heavy, and hard to move why is it so complicated? I know there are techniques, but essentially offensive lineman are roadblocks.
Offensive line is not an easy one to play. You have to stay engaged physically and mentally. You have to really maintain balance points and watch leverage. You also have to maintain posture while getting manhandled by bigger faster players. It is not easy whatsoever.
Apparently not, there doesn't seem to be that many really good ones. One NFL OLineman (KC Chiefs) told me that he got his "bell rung" at every snap. He said he usually wasn't right by the next snap.
I am sure run blocking is not fun in the NFL. Just head clashing with linebackers at full speed. If you are going to be in the NFL, be a receiver. You probably wont have too much CTE.
Average wonderlic test scores by position in the NFL: Offensive tackle – 26 Center – 25 Quarterback – 24 Guard – 23 Tight end – 22 Safety – 19 Linebacker – 19 Cornerback – 18 Wide receiver – 17 Fullback – 17 Halfback – 16 These "roadblocks" are usually the most intelligent group of players because their jobs are complex.
