Seriously, they couldn't find him a picture w/o the douche Gomez. I had almost forgotten he was on this team.
Solved one my big 4 issues, happy, pinch runner much needed to add playoff pressure on the bases. And overall he's solid if needed to start.
This dude singlehandedly annihilated us in that first series at home against the Angels. I think we managed to win one only because he didn't play that game. I like this move. We need killers like him. Also happy to have him out of the division opposition.
Game tied, bottom of the 9th, Maybin on 1st. Beltran hits a blooper to Right Center, Maybin somehow scores standing up.
How so? They added a guy that is capable of playing all three spots in the outfield at a high level. He is an excellent base runner as well and he has speed. He is an excellent late game substitution. Also if the offense is clicking; a defensive outfield of Maybin/Springer/Marisnick is amazing.
While I agree in general and am good with the move, it's so hard to imagine subbing out Reddick (in this particular example you listed) for the slightly-more-than-marginal defensive upgrade (given that Reddick is already solid with a plus arm and in a corner OF position requiring less range) to Maybin, while taking the offensive hit between them. No matter the lead, that seems like a tradeoff you don't make when the other 2 OFs are already elite defensively.
Really this is the best move so far in the trade season for the astros now if we can get a starter.[/QUOTE]
It was just a hypothetical or would be when Reddick would have a day off. I don't expect Springer, Maybin and Marisnick to all three start often (if at all).
I actually like this move a lot. He gives us another weapon and although he's not the arm we needed, he can be valuable in the field and on the bases. His speed is breathtaking!
Yeah understood. Just thinking forward to the playoffs for when that could be deployed...I would hope never. But yeah, perhaps against a lefty + subbing defensively for Marwin or something.
This is an absolutely underrated move and fit perfectly with this team. You have guys like Beltran and Mccann whom can't run at all but then you are definitely willing to have someone to sub in and run for them in a late close game. Don't forget, this team reduced the strike out rate a lots this year and also grounding into a lots of DP. With Maybin, you will see a lot more hit and run and distraction on the base and absolutely will benefit our lineup on hitting.
