That team has as good a chance as any.
In the end, the Tigers dealt another big-salary player for prospects - they traded Justin Upton to the Los Angeles Angels earlier - and this time ended up with a significant prospect haul, nabbing three of the talent-rich Astros' top 11 prospects. The Astros will send right-handed pitcher Franklin Perez (No. 3), outfielder Daz Cameron (No. 9) and catcher Jake Rogers (No. 11) to Detroit. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/09/01/tigers-trade-justin-verlander-astros/623920001/
He and Keuchel both pitched Wednesday. If I'm Hinch I would give Keuchel an extra day and let Verlander pitch Monday in Seattle.
Exactly. Get your team to the postseason with depth all around and go from there... it's mostly a crapshoot anyways.
So just out of curiosity what would have happened if the Astros had claimed JV off waivers? Would the Tigers have pulled him back or would they have let him go and the Astros would have just had to pay him $10 mil more?
Upton is not a Tigers icon or a Starting pitcher. Plus, looks like Angels took all salary and didn't get guarantees Upton wouldn't opt out next year. Apples and oranges.
She's just a pair of t*** who also thinks she can act but can't. Her face is mediocre, and of course, she has no ass.
Those 15 minutes before the deadline were nuts. First it was Justin who wouldn't waive his no-trade, then Luhnow who had the deal but got cold feet, then the deal suddenly gets done. It went from "f*** Justin" to "f*** Luhnow" to "f*** yeah!!"
Perez will likely be the biggest loss... but glad to see them sell high on Cameron (after his value bottomed out to start). The Jared Cosart trade still paying off.
I'm not saying it isn't a win. I think it was. We got a good deal I think tho, his age and contact $ and no trade made his value lower. Thus 3 top11 prospects is a good haul for them. Right now it seems very balanced. I'm just curious the $ because of our past salary parameters and I think it will tell us a lot about the negotiations.
