I am just a couple miles South on Fairbanks from the track. The houses in my area aren't flooded. Some of the streets are impassable though.
Haven't heard any South Park, NRG area, or 3rd Ward updates...... no flooding yet. Brays Bayou no longer cresting @ Kirby.
Estimates put the total water fall in the last 3 days at 11 TRILLION gallons !!! To put that in perspective: From the beginning of oil production until now, all the oil the world has ever produced is about 42 TRILLION gallons of oil. Harvey has dumped a quarter of that volume in just 3 days... In 2016, the world ENERGY consumption was equivalent to burning 3.5 TRILLION gallons of oil
Family has a rental house in the Carriage Lane neighborhood off West Rd and Fairbanks. Glad to hear that you are okay and hopefully our rental is too.
The bad part is that this rain band is seemingly just sitting here, not moving. The good news is that the rain is (so far) no where near as bad as the first couple of nights and (so far) the street drains have managed to keep up with it. It would be real nice if this band would finally rotate out of here. The wind is starting to worry me with all the trees around here. ETA: I like how the rotation of the storm is offset JUUUUST enough by Harvey's movement SE so that big ol' band of yellow is sitting right over Houston. One more big "F U" from Harvey, I guess.
Because that's what we need, people talking down to us. What's the city supposed to do? Ask people to stop moving here? I tried that and it doesn't work.
