The teams are close enough in talent, so whichever prevails in the playoffs will be determined by who is playing better at the time. That time isn't right now. Who got better why and how is irrelevant.
I think that's one of the luxuries of being up 10+ games for the vast majority of the season. I'm sure the Astros WANT the top seed; I'm not sure they'd view it as a necessity, however; a goal they'd dump resources into. My guess, right now, is that their priority is health for October. In the meantime, get the young guys some quality PT, see what you have, etc.
It's not like they chose to have Correa, McCann, and Gattis injured at the same time. The scrubs are playing out of necessity.
It's arguable they lost vs KC because they burned Keuchel in the WCG. This year's team is missing most of the offensive playoff production the '15 team had... Rasmus, Gomez, and Carter. The young guys have gotten much better, so there's hope. I'd LIKE for them to un-slump to avoid embarrassment and make positive history. Regardless, playoffs matter most.
The current, injury-depleted version of this year's team is better than the '15 Astros. At full strength, it blows the '15 offense to smithereens. Come on....
Injury concerns for Keuchel, McCuller, and Morton were valid... and all 3 have spent a good amount of time on the DL this year. McHugh missed half the year due to injury, but even when healthy he has regressed since his stellar debut in 2014. Yes, Peacock being on the 40 man roster was questioned... by EVERYBODY. Anybody who says they expected this from Peacock is not being honest. Fiers is still a fluke no-hitter pitcher.... and when its all said and done, he will likely not be on this team's playoff roster. Not as concerned about the hitting... which comes/goes anyways. They were never going to outslug everybody towards a WS title.
https://climbingtalshill.com/2017/08/23/astros-review-certain-bunt-tuesday/ Whole article dedicated to Marwin's bunt yesterday. Is there anyone who thought it was a good idea?
Good God, just realized its Fiers on the mound tonight All the more reason we needed yesterday to be a win.
Hey delete Now!... that's what I said in the following sentence you omitted. It is noteworthy the young guys didn't match their '15 regular season production in those playoffs. Small sample size, but worth noting.
Assuming the two teams are close in the standings, the strategy for that all final weekend for the Astros/Red Sox series is going to be interesting for both teams in terms of use of starters, etc.
The dodgers are on pace for the best record in history. When I say "every team", I literally mean "every team in history sans the best two records in MLB history"
Dude that's Brianna Carbonell, the girl who made Julia obsolete. She is the sole reason to watch games played at MMP. Blum had to drape himself in that oversized T-shirt to cover his rod.
