NY taking Ryno hasn't been an option. It's always been assumed that Ryno would be headed to a 3rd team. Plus, who would NY even sign at this point? Am I missing something here?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's saying that a Melo trade isn't imminent because NY used the Room MLE on Baker which they wouldn't have done if they were about to do a cap clearing Melo trade like swapping Ryno for Melo. However, NY taking on Ryno has never been a realistic option at this point which is why there's been so much focus on 3rd and even 4th teams. He says that teams planning to open up cap space don't tend to use their Room MLE before using their room. Free agency started over a month ago. Who exactly would NY be signing with cap space at this point anyways? Also, most people think that a deal will happen closer to training camp if one actually does end up happening. Are there people who still feel that a Melo trade is imminent and right around the corner?
