Flying to Boston tomorrow morning. Going to Fenway on Saturday night then getting up early and making the 4 hour drive to Cooperstown on Sunday.
I hope it's really early - everything I've heard is that it's nearly impossible to get in (or out) of town, starting ~mid-Saturday morning. But DM me and we can say hi. Sounds like Astro meet-up is at Cooley's Saturday night.

Bagwell and Frank Thomas were born on the same exact day. Bagwell is the better of the two players. Bagwell will be the best NL first baseman in the HOF until Pujols arrives. A DH cannot equal a quality every day player like Bagwell. Bags was good at everything he did on the field, and in the club house.
I wish I had gone with your plan. We are going to be exhausted. We are leaving my house at 4 am tomorrow, then we'll be up super early on Sunday to make the drive (no later than 5am) then our flight home is at 5:05am on Monday. The reason we didn't do that was because we didn't want to risk a rainout on Friday and miss Fenway.
It appears the rain passes tonight. Looks like a beautiful day tomorrow. I am really looking forward to it and Cooperstown! The parade is Saturday evening at 6pm too. I want to see all of the HOF'ers. Sunday should be an amazing event, long time coming. I really hope Houston shows up. Several Astros fans on this plane alone.

For those that do go to Cooperstown, you can show up early, plant your chairs, and comeback to them easily if you want to sit close. Your view won't be great due to reserved seating, but you can hear fine and see ok. There will be plenty of Astros fans as I think they made up about 40-60% for Biggio. There will be HOFamers in town before and after giving autographs pretty cheap at the bat stores. Go in. Even late after the ceremony I met and got auto's from Luis Tiant and Bert Campenaris. But honestly, you can show up right before the ceremony and you will likely get the exact same view you would have gotten if you show up early. So save yourself a lot of sitting around. You can park in a lot, but they are really small, I mean small, so I'd just pick a country street and park there. It will feel like nobody is there. And a lot like a small country town even with 60k coming. It's not a far walk from the museum to the ceremony, like 10-15 minute walk. I would skip their mass transit and hoof it. Traffic was not bad at all at 9am or afterwards even though it's practically single lane entry and exit. Like in field of dreams. At the ceremony they will have food and souvenirs so don't worry, but it is like a giant open field of grass cut out of the woods, so I'd say bring your own snacks and frozen drinks. It will be hot. So bring shade and sunglasses and sunscreen. Don't underestimate sunscreen. Rickey Henderson shows up late.

I couldn't see jack in that video. Where was the stage/podium? Is there a video screen? Can you actually see the speaker from that video above with that vantage point? Or, are you basically just hearing it over loudspeaker with no seeing much of anything?
It will look a lot like this... You will be behind the reserved seating so your view is just gonna be ok. You can get as close as that fence. Bagwell, Biggio, and Nolan Ryan will be about the same size as you'd see at the ball park. You can see him, but you won't see his expressions. Most people will sit after 5 minutes like in the photo. The speakers will be under the saddle tent. Park your seat on Saturday to be close ( yep, I said Saturday) , but you can also walk right up to the fence without being stopped. The fans won't rush the fence, they are all very organized and remain seated, civilized, so just go right up there. Remember... there will be 60k people there on a flat field. There is one video screen to the left of the stage, but it's not like an IMAX you'd see at an event on the National Mall. It's smallish. But you can see it. The sound will be very good like in the video.
GTFO with this BS. Baggy not only played Defense (something Thomas didn't do much of because he was sitting his ASS on the bench), and he was damn good at it as well. Was also one of the BEST baserunners in the game. Thomas also played 19 yrs if I'm not mistaken (to Baggy's 15).
Those are all counting stats. Thomas extended his career by playing DH most of the time. Bagwell's shoulder fell off, starting really as early as 2002. After the end of the 2005 season, Bagwell's and Thomas's numbers were eerily similar. Except, of course, the baserunning and defensive metrics. Then the Big Hurt came back and padded his numbers as a DH a little while still being completely worthless on the field and on the bases. So no: Thomas isn't the baseball player Jeff Bagwell was. Similar (but not better) offensively, and far inferior in every other way. "First ballot" my ass.
