The idea is that the Potato Head trade where HOU gets Melo, Portland takes Ryno and NYK take Harkless, with some 4th team needing to take Leonard, can be short-circuited to cut HOU and Ryno out of the deal. POR fans invented the idea that since Harkless and Leonard are enough to match Melo, why do they need to help HOU, when they can do the trade themselves....as long as they find a taker for Leonard, since NY won't take him.

You know my theory partner? The Blazers were set on taking Anderson back if they could get rid of Leonard. Lillard and Urkel got wind of the idea and got pissed that they weren't going after Melo. Portland FO freaks out and tries to reassure their "stars" that they are going after Melo and not Anderson. They've been changing their story ever since.

The best package they can offer is probably Harkless, Davis (expiring), Collins (their 10th pick in this draft), a future 1st and probably a couple of salary fillers.
Out of all the loser fans we have dealt with the past couple years, Portland has been the worst. The most insecure by far. Making accounts here daily to try and convince us that their team is respected and melo would be a good fit there. Like why? Who cares what rockets fans think lol, we don't make the trade happen. We can't waive melo's no trade clause. And Portland fans...you don't have a big 3. Maybe a 1? Or a 1.5 lmao

Guys, guys, they are over getting Melo: Here is their proposed trade now... Who says no? Melo waives his no trade clause and gets out of NY. NYK get Harkless, who they covert, Davis and Vonleh, who are both on cheap, expiring contracts. Vonleh is still very young and they would hold his Bird rights, should they want to re-sign him. LeBron (er... CLE) get's the player he (er... they) want. We get the best player in the deal, who is 5 years younger than Melo and a better fit for us. He makes less than Melo and is locked up longer. Best of all, he doesn't have a no trade clause! By clearing out Davis and Vonleh, we alleviate some of the logjam at back up 4/5. We'd be relying on Swanigan, Collins and (cough) Leonard backing up the 4 and 5 spots, with help from Aminu at the 4, although he may end up being our starting 3. Personally, I'd try to push Leonard off on NYK, with us getting Kyle O'Quinn back, but it's already be widely reported that the Knicks don't want him. And, of course, HOU gets exactly what they deserve - NOTHING!
