The only team in the league where role players shoot contested 3s are the Rockets. Our players shoot those because D'Antoni and Morey encourage those. But other teams in the league just preach you pass or dribble from the closeout. I would certainly not be surprised if he starts practicing and shooting semi-contested 3s like everyone else on this team.
id say GS, Clev, and Boston do as well of the top off my head. he's not going to all of a sudden become some knock down shooter. lets not get guys out of what they need to do specifically here.
That has nothing to do with it. It's not a choice of Melo or Ariza. Ariza was instrumental in recruiting CP3. He won't be traded and thats final.
But... but... big 4!? It's better this way. Them having a big 4 like Golden State would be way too unfair. Hopefully we each get a big 3. Us with Melo/Paul/Harden them with Lillard and whatever other two players their fans are claiming.
Playing 4 in this offense isn't the same as playing 4 in a Memphis or San Antonio. We basically have two guards and two forwards spacing the floor and one big in the middle. Paul and Ariza will take the tougher defensive assignment and all 4 will play on the perimeter. I'm sure Melo gets this.

I get what you're saying. I agree that Ariza was a big part of that..I'm just saying if trading Ariza was the only means necessary (after further weeks of deliberation) to get a deal for carmelo done, I feel like Chris would prefer having his closer / more talented buddy here.

I can't say this is true or not. I don't know why NYK would want Ariza on their team though. Ariza is not a fantastic asset at this point in his career and supposedly their FO motto has become all about younger talent. I think we're just sort of throwing his name in their because he's valuable to OUR team and he's a recognizable name. In no way doesn't that mean he'd be a good player to involve in the trade. Melo waiving his NTC brings contracts in order thus making a player like Ariza unnecessary. Ryan Anderson is being dangled because his contract makes the deal work.
