Make the Rockets great again! And he would like to have a John WALL. Wait, Chris Paul would want a black owner, or he's gonna jump ship.
The way values have skyrocketed, I suspect a non-Houstonian owner more than a Houstonian one. And I don't think that matters in anyway... unless its some Seattle owner that has long term relocation plans, but hat seems incredibly unlikely. Also, the way values have gone up, we're likely looking at a consortium of sorts... otherwise you have to really start looking at the top of Forbes annual list.
Not a lot of people with $1.6B+ of spare capital plus probably another $800M of operating capital. Probably less than 1,000 people on the planet. Someone will almost need to form an investment group to hit that sort of number. Remember the capital has to be mostly fungible so that limits the list considerably.
Best case scenario would be a Ballmer type that can hit that number without significant help. It gets really dicey when you split up the ownership percentages amongst a large group.
I'm rooting for Tilman Fertita honestly. The guys is a loyal Houstonian and he has been trying to get a team for awhile now. The good thing about this team sale is we almost definitely will get new Jerseys and possibly a new logo as well.
some dotcom, silicon valley type is what i'm thinking. I would like Elon Musk, but i don't think investing 2+ billion into a sports franchise is what he wants. I know the new arena would be state of the art badass
Yao Ming + investors would be nice. Hakeem + investors would be nice. But most likely its going to be some Silicon Valley douchebag with no desire to make the team better and/or interferes too much with the team with ZERO basketball knowledge.
