That's an understatement there, there are probably 25 teams who could field better offers for Melo, sure portland may want him, but so do a dozen of those teams. The only reason it comes down to us and cleveland is his NTC, and yeah the likelihood of him waiving it for someone else, especially after what seems like the knicks already agreed to send him to us then retracted it is basically zero.

This guy had two main arguments regarding leverage:
1) Knicks could just keep Melo, suffering at worse his loss after one yr which would free up cap space - a benefit to the knicks, and
2) A trade between Knicks and Blazers is simpler and they actually want what they're offering.

Ok ok, except:
1) They want some sort of assets back to build upon which is why they want Mo Harkless. Also, even if they did keep him to lose him, Knicks would have to convince marquee players to come to a team with no depth even for the East, and that they don't f*ck up the extra cap space a la Tim Hardaway Jr.

2) Until Melo adds Portland to his list of NTC waiver targets, simplicity and what Knicks want doesn't mean jack or sh*t. Nor do they have any players included in Melo's wedding party nor guaranteed future hall-of-famers.

Now I'm done unless this clown wants to spout off more about how he makes more money than other people, how he has on demand tickets to one of the greatest train wrecks in basketball, or about how famous his one-trick resume makes him.
