This has nothing to do with anything. Toronto gave up 1st and 2nd to dump carrol on a bad contract. He did not have a No Trade Clause, Melo can't be trade she to anywhere except Houston and Cleveland and the Knicks to need dump his salary

Man, the knicks aren't sitting on melo and risk the lockeroom being more disfunctional than it already is?? James Dolan runs this team, not David Griffin. It's a done deal because it's about leverage and it's leaning hard in the players direction. You don't keep a limb when it's infected, you cut it off for fear of losing even more.

Doesn't matter what Dolan likes. Melo isn't approving a trade to Oklahoma.

    LOL
    sure they can.
It's different when you are dealing with idiots like Mills and different when you are dealing with smart ppl like Griffin.
A smart GM FINDS ways to gain his leverage. A smart GM will say to Melo to go earn his paycheck or send him home until he decides to be traded to other teams.
They DO pay him 25 mil. He is under contract. If he doesn't chance his opinion he can also be the one who will suffer.

Adding Rhyan Anderson or Leonard is exactly the definition of losing even more.

woj is also feeding Ramona. Like he fed Shams. That's why she all of a sudden gets all those scoops.

There's no way to gain leverage when you currently have 3 valid options, trade Melo to one of 2 spots, negotiate a buyout, or keep him and risk completely alienating the rest of your roster and having people like Porzingis looking for the exit as soon as possible. It honestly doesn't matter how smart you are when you are in that kind of situation. There is no "win", it's just damage control at this point.

He isn't right now.... but a month from now? Training camp? If the Knicks choose to, they can just sit on Anthony. If they really dislike what Houston and Cleveland are offering, they can do a buyout.

The Knicks don't have to move him for months (if at all) and Anthony has been complacent just keeping the status quo for years in NY.

If it seems absurd, consider this same organization is the most dysfunctional in professional sports.

    HERE IS MY BOLD PREDICTION.
NEW YORK WON'T TRADE US MELO BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO OFFER THAT THEY WANT.
WILL HOLD OUT LONGER AND EVENTUALLY CARMELO WILL BROADEN THE LIST OF TEAMS HE CAN GO TO AND THE KNICKS TRADE HIM TO:

    OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
ENES KANTER + ALEX ABRINES FOR CARMELO

    WESTBROOK
    ROBERSON
    GEORGE
    CARMELO
    ADAMS

Exactly. There's 2 teams they can trade with, if they dick around too long, that list might get shorter and then they'd be stuck negotiating a buyout instead of getting anything back at all.

Griffin-to-NY isn't done yet. They can still find a way to screw it up. ;)

One potential stumbling block to the Knicks' pursuit of Griffin, league sources said: the willingness of the organization to allow Griffin to bring his own front office and staff into Madison Square Garden.

Much of the Knicks' front office has survived several unsuccessful regimes, and the organization has been hesitant to make sweeping changes to the group, league sources said.

Griffin is one of the NBA's most connected and respected executives, and he may not agree to a scenario in which he must inherit a bulk of the front office, league sources said.

Yes he is.... and if you believe what I have been told, he is still letting Shams break stories.

does that mean that he is trying to maintain Shams reputation before he also joins ESPN?
