Apparently, there are rumblings that Morey is willing to give up the 2020 1st rd pick knowing that Harden is locked up till 2023. This could mean the pick might be included in a deal for Melo.
kinda nervous. free agent market has dried up at this point. If we trade the house for melo, we'll have three superstars and nothing else.
Since LeBron is not trying hard enough to get Melo to go to Cavs, it means he is planning to join him in Houston next year. I am not sure how I feel about that.
Cmon Maurie!!!! I'm ready for a celebratory beverage that leads me to waking up on my roof surrounded by fireworks
interesting. i guess given the direction we are going with our team, it's worth the risk, if we get to keep Ariza and Gordon. I never saw us getting a deal done for Melo and moving Anderson's contract without throwing in a pick. This shouldn't be surprising to anyone living in the real world.
Chris Paul James Harden - Eric Gordon Carmelo Anthony - P.J. Tucker Trevor Ariza - Zhou Qi Clint Capela - Nene - Chinanu Onuaku FAs: Bobby Brown - Troy Williams NG: Shawn Long - Tim Quarterman - Isaiah Taylor - Jarrod Uthoff Stash?: Isaiah Hartenstein Certainly if they trade Ariza and/or Gordon, deal is less attractive.
Listening to D'Antoni on that podcast the other day all they are looking at is vet backup C and PG. I'm sure there will be a few around if not through FA but through trade
Is Bobby Brown still necessary? We have Harden locked up now. Also I'd have Chee as a forward as opposed to a center.
1) CP3 2) Harden/ Gordon 3) Ariza/ Tucker 4) Melo 5) Capela/ Nene Hate to even reference a bleacher report article, but they've been getting better and this piece makes a good case on why Melo is a 4 from here on out. Also, Tucker is a 3 and i think Ariza is still a 3: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...at-power-forward-following-return-from-injury
This better not fall through at the last minute or Clutchfans will cannibalize itself. Do it for the Clutchfans, Morii!
in your scenario we still have a 6th man of the year and a young up and coming great pick and roll threat on a rookie contract. I think if we acquire 3 max contracts than we need to accept that we won't be the deepest team in the world. I just hope we keep gordon/capela also. if push comes to shove I give up gordon (but I really really would fight it). Capela is untouchable in this trade though. we need a pick and roll threat for dantonis offense and need rim protection without playing old man BD nene 48 mins. Edit: OOPS meant to respond this one to @theangrycanary not @J.R.
Meh, I no longer put position labels on player. We're in an era of positionless basketball. Neither Ariza or Carmelo are "true fours" but one of them will be playing it. And I think Carmelo has "resisted" the idea of playing PF in the past but again, if this happens, one of him/Ariza will be playing "Power Forward". http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...ltimatum-forced-mike-antoni-article-1.3150485 "This is the second time in two years D’Antoni has placed the blame on Anthony for sabotaging his coaching in New York, claiming on a podcast with The Vertical last summer that players held resentment toward Jeremy Lin and he couldn’t get Anthony to move to power forward to accommodate the point guard. “So now it’s like, what are we going to do? We could see how to go and I didn’t know how to get there and with losing again and you’re trying to prod them and you’re trying to tell ‘em to play harder and all the coach’s speak and communication just like deteriorated,” D’Antoni said. “(Carmelo and I) don’t have a bad relationship. I speak to him. He’s a good guy,” D’Antoni, who coached Anthony as an assistant with Team USA, said last year on The Vertical podcast. “But I had one vision that I wanted him to play one way. He wanted to go the other way. I couldn’t get to my way.”
