I like the Reddick and Amir deals. If Embiid plays more than 70 games, they will be the 4th seed imo.
Naw Colangelos are dumb. They should use their cap to take bad contracts for assets, instead they pay Reddick superstar money to do nothing. Sixers are miles away from competing their core are all injured. Is reddick the diff between playoffs and lottery? I dont think so he'll just make them suck less. "The process" is dead watch colangelos ruin everything in the next 2-3 years.
No, they have salary that they can use next year to sign 2 Max players. After that, i believe they're going to have to start maxing out their rookies to keep them. They have to start winning now. Star players will not want to sign there if they do not start winning. Getting a shooter for this season was a very smart move The cap room they have next year is a bigger asset than any rookie they can draft
QUESTION: Since thier yearly amounts match up roughly Can we trade for him at the deadline for anderson? Rocket River
Pipe down. This is a one year contract. They don't need more lottery picks. They need player development and some semblance of a winning culture. At some point the Sixers must actually try to win games or just shut down the franchise. If Embiid and/or Ben Simmons turn out to be injury-prone busts, the latter might be the preferred option.
Might as well tack this on here, in lieu of starting a new thread: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...iladelphia-76ers-agree-1-year-11-million-deal
Cash Rules Everything Around Me I told you...the Clippers are starting to fall. Blake can't hold it all together and DJ is still raw (well, he can't shoot beyond 2 feet either) Austin Rivers is despised by everyone except his father. Time is ticking.
$24-mill is a lot. It's like accepting the qualifying offer in baseball, just gotta bet on yourself to ball out and earn another contract this year. Even if he doesn't, $24 is a lot and then he can go wherever he wants. I mean, $24-mill is almost as much as what were paying CP3 this year
Great move by Philadelphia. I can't remember who said it, but some baseball analyst once said, "There is no such thing as a killer one-year deal." Basically, it's long-term money that can kill a franchise--Philadelphia is paying a premium, but retaining their long-term flexibility and giving the kids exactly the kind of complementary shooter they needed.
Brilliant for Reddick, would have taken multiple years to get this on a contender. Take one huge payday, maybe have some fun with an up and coming team, then make even more money next year, possibly on a title contender. I'm guessing he won't have forgotten how to shoot, so he will still be in demand. Makes sense for Philly, got to give the money to somebody. Helps you win this year to start building that culture, and keeps you very flexible heading into next year.
