so... phase 1 complete. i don't think we can beat out the celtics for hayward. reuniting with his college coach is the main advantage they have over us right now. i don't think we will look to sign anyone else. morey wants to operate over the cap and retain the MLE and LLE. we're looking at trades like: george, melo, millsap.
his targets first are always the big fish. if he strikes out for whatever reason, hell go after a decent player that is an ideal fit as always. the same caliber players harden has been surrounded with the last several years. no way is DM done with just a cp3 move
I think we're far from done. as i said, i don't think morey wants to go under the cap to sign a free agent. trading for stars would allow us to keep the MLE and LLE so we can build a bench around our stars. we may miss out on blake, hayward, etc but we can try to trade for george, melo, or millsap. i think other teams can offer the pacers more for george, which is why i think we can end up with melo AND millsap.
me too. i think its obvious now that morey wants to stay over the cap and keep the MLE and LLE. that means we're not going to sign any FA's. i think we're going after star players that we can trade for a the forward spots: george, melo, millsap (since atl said they'd do a S&T). can't think of any other star forwards that would be available in trade. can you?
not unless utah is willing to do a S&T. i think morey wants to stay over the cap to keep the MLE and LLE. It looks like we'll be trading for our 3rd and hopefully 4th stars.
Could someone lay out a scenario where we get the 4th star? Are we just hoping that someone gets bought out and we get them for pennies on the dollar or what?
On paper we would be able to do this: Anderson + salary fillers for Millsap/Melo Gordon + salary fillers for George/Cousins Is it likely to happen? Probably not.
i know lebron would like to get melo to the cavs for love. but would the knicks like our package more than just getting love in return?
lebron does NOT want melo for love... that is only a lateral move. he might score more consistently but is a worse rebounder, and less size at the 4. also would still only be 3 stars to 4 for golden state. melo is also older and on the downside of his career.
