He released a video of himself making out with a picture of him. Probably wasn't fair of me but I made the assumption
Is it weird that I actually like CLT's roster and this trade from their perspective? They weren't going to improve via FA due to their cap status, and Kemba/Monk/Batum/Williams/Howard could be a decent Playoff team in the East - they know they aren't winning anything over next 2 years, but at least they'll be competitive. They also cleared up ~$13 MM from their cap in 19/20 and with the selection of Monk they might be able to move Kemba for a nice asset at the deadline.
This isn't about how bad Dwight is. He still averages a double double and is a great on ball defender. This is about him not fitting in today's NBA.
"I'm very thankful Coach Cliff gave me this opportunity. I think this is going to be a great place for me personally." "I'm extremely thankful and blessed to continue my career in this city... I'm just looking forward to playing." Dwight Howard says he can "hopefully" end his career with the @hornets "I'm just looking forward to doing whatever Coach Cliff needs me to do." - @dwighthoward "I've always liked this team. Kemba is a great player. I've known Marvin - he actually dunked on me back in high school." @dwighthoward "I take this game very seriously, but I want to have fun while I do it." - @dwighthoward "Great defense where everybody is talking and trusting each other." -- what Howard hopes will be what he'll bring to @hornets "I've got a lot left in the tank. I'm going to give [this city and my teammates] everything that I have." @dwighthoward "A lot of people have written me off, which is great because it will make me work even harder." -- new @hornets center Dwight Howard. "I have so much faith in Coach Clifford and my teammates. We're going to have an unbelievable season." - @dwighthoward Howard said he's avoided confronting incorrect criticisms in the past. Sounds like that will change. "He understands me. He's been around me for a long time." -- Howard on Clifford. "Coach Cliff saw what kind of person and player I am... He was always there for me... He was always positive." - @dwighthoward "Not once did he turn his back on me. Not once did he talk bad about me." -- more Dwight Howard on Steve Clifford. "There are two Supermen here in myself and Cam Newton...Me and Cam are part of the same place in Atlanta." -- Dwight Howard. "I want to play until my body tells me to lie down." -- Dwight Howard. "[@CameronNewton] and I both love to win, have fun and we both hate losing." - @dwighthoward "We've always been able to communicate honestly and transparently with each other." - Hornets Head Coach Steve Clifford "The thing that has set him apart is his intelligence. He's as bright with coverages as any player I've been around." Steve Clifford. "Smart always wins in the NBA." -- Steve Clifford on Dwight Howard's basketball IQ. "I think Kemba's great, especially in the pick-and-roll... He's a tough cover." - @dwighthoward Dwight Howard compared Nic Batum to Hedo Turkoglu. "People have always said things about me that weren't true." -- Dwight Howard on perception of his game and personality. "I'm just excited to be here in Charlotte. A lot of fans have reached out and I appreciate all the love and support." -@DwightHoward "I'm going to give this city every ounce of blood, sweat and tears and hopefully something great comes out of it." - @dwighthoward
Does he not? Or does he just refuse too? He's athletic, great defender, great roller, and good for dunks/putbacks/etc. Seems like he has all the makings of the modern day center (minus shooting/dribbling) but still has this idea of himself being an elite back to the basket post scorer. It's like dude, that style of scoring isn't even valued present day, especially not from someone who is below average at it. I don't get Dwight. He could still be a pretty valuable player, but he seems to hold himself back,
If Dwight is Superman, the basketball must be his Kryptonite at this point. I still remember people trying to blame Harden for not figuring out how to make Dwight good or feel good.
I think Dwight is going to have a bounce back year. He and Coach Cliff get along great, Cliff seems to want him there, he's got the support of the organization, I think the clubhouse vibe will be to his liking . . . all the ingredients are there for him to do well. Look for a good year from Dwight.
