He must have walked in on Steve Kerr extracting some of his own CSF and handing it off to the devil as part of the pact he signed in 2015 and renewed this year.
Well maybe Woj is on to something. I guess he is the anti-KD. He is actually taking the "hardest road."
His "old ass" is the reason the Clippers didn't trade Klay Thompson to Minnesota for Kevin Love. His "old ass" was the top recruiter of Durant, and by Durant's own admission made the largest impact on getting him to sign. His "old ass" went to bat for drafting an undersized power forward that at the time couldn't shoot. His "old ass" scouted Klay Thompson and pushed for ownership to draft him. His "old ass" also pushed to get rid of Mark Jackson and bring in a more analytically inclined coach. There is plenty of credit to go around to a lot of people within the Warriors organization. However it is very unlikely the Warriors win anything without West and his guidance. This also means that Paul isn't going anywhere.
He's a genius. Lakers had their greatest runs with him, and he also turned around the Grizzlies and was a big part of the Warriors current run. He'll turn the Clippers around.
Jerry West teams haven't stuck with what they had before he got there to succeed--they've reinvented themselves. So does that suggest that he'll want to let the "old guard" (Paul, Griffin, Redick) go and start fresh, or will he want to start this time with some superstars even if they have been disappointing overall to this point?
Jerry West is awesome! An NBA legend and treasure. That all said, I don't think him going to the Clippers will result in a championship. May as well swing for the fences one last time.
NBA is about talent evaluation (both players and coaches) and luck. West is the best at evaluate talent in NBA history, sorry Morey.
Jerry West won titles with Lakers and Warriors, not with the Grizzlies. 67% of the time, Jerry West wins every time.
