It's never been about pro-life. Pro-lifers who don't support free contraception options or sex education in schools. Pro-lifers don't give a damn about the baby once it's born; and says its not the public's responsibility in helping raise the child. It's about punishing acts of immoral sex from their religious view. The same pro-lifers who aren't "pro-life" when it comes to wars. Its all about holding people accountable to "consequences".

How else do you punish people for having immoral pre-marriage sex other than forcing them to bring their baby to term and raise their children in poverty with no help? That'll teach 'em!

BTW, "redistribution of wealth" is merely theft by another name.

If you are paying attention to the party right now there is a sign they are looking to put forward a platform message that appeals to independents. Many, like Pelosi even, are using language that is pretty much inviting pro-life people to join their party which is a major reversal. Even Bernie is on board with that strategy even though he's a huge liability IF he decides he's unhappy with the party platform and turns his base off of the Dems.

I think they are gearing to run a message in 2018 that is "we are the party of the working class" and pick up anyone that is not a Trump loyalist.

2020 might be a different story, but its a clear sign that in 2018 they certainly are about two things-

-Casting as wide a net as possible for a voter base
    and
    -We are the (Trump) Resistance

Its too early to tell who is going to be a serious candidate in 2020, but even though Warren will be a huge voice, the signs are they are casting their net very wide to try and capitalize on netting independent, and focus on a middle class message.

(But right now I'm sure Bannon & Co. are doing their homework on smearing everyone from Warren, to Biden, to Corey Booker, Kamala Harris, etc.,and even some guys like Cuban and yes... Zuckerberg).

All government is a redistribution of wealth. Taxes for defense, roads, law enforcement, etc all benefit different people differently. They are all trasnfers of wealth from one group of people to another for the betterment of the country.

Warren will be like 70 years old. They need to find someone a little younger. If Warren was going to run this would have been a perfect year for her. I think Zuckerburg could win if he wanted to use the full power of Facebook. Facebook was a big reason Trump won.

Since you mention taxes as a "redistribution of wealth"..

Should the country as a whole provide healthcare to its citizens as a basic right? Simple yes or no?

Is healthcare only for those who can afford it; a privilege?

Exactly. That's why the "Libertarian" tag sounds great on its surface... like I'm an anti-establishment rebel. Look at me.... until you realize that oh wait... Roads, police officers, etc... society actually NEEDS those things for stability. That's why the party on itself can never win elections, and be considered a serious party platform.

Its not like I could pay for my own police officer as a middle class citizen. That's the way society works. The things that we need are paid for when everyone puts their share in a pot, and it gets DISTRIBUTED.

For a ton of reasons we could go on and on about, Healthcare is quickly becoming another one of those things that 99% of people just cannot afford to pay for on their own, and society benefits from everyone having coverage just like everyone should have police, or firefighter access. I wish it was something like an automobile, where you could realistically pay for ALL of the car either by payment or lump sum but that's just not the case with healthcare.

The huge philosophical question in this country is moving forward with the huge growing disparity between the rich and the poor in this country what is considered a "Fair Share" for the wealthy?

Donald Trump and the GOP just showed the world what they think of that disparity by saying Tax Cuts for the Wealthy is SOOO Important that we will rush a bill down our throats, lie to the American people, kick millions off of their insurance, and gut something that is universally accepted as a requirement in Pre-Existing conditions JUST to get those tax breaks to the wealthiest 1% in our country. That message they sent will hopefully have a lasting effect. The Trump voters who thought they were anti-establishment with a guy looking out for the little guy just got served.

This bill doesn't even benefit you. You don't make enough money for the cuts to help you. Most of us get our insurance through work. Do you think they will be passing the savings to us?

Its pretty pathetic you are trying to make this about race. Whites benefit from this just as much.

And we wonder why, as a nation, we can't get over racism.

It's interesting how more and more Senators are making it to the presidential election. Governor used to be the path but it seems to have changed. John Kerry, John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. If you look before 2004 you'll find a lot of Governors. George W Bush, Bill Clinton, Michael Dukakis, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Adlai Stevenson, FDR, Thomas Dewey, Alf Landon, Al Smith and it goes on. I was disappointed we didn't get to hear more from former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley.

Umm, because the GOP has pushed a narrative that the ACA is a give away to minorities. That whites benefit from this as much, if not more, than racial minorities underscores the ridiculousness of many of those who supported eliminating their own coverage during the election.

Racial coding was a huge part of the GOP and Trump framing of the argument against the Affordable Care Act. And labeling it Obamacare was a huge part of that effort.

2020 talk is premature when 2018 is the next step to prove to voters that Trump's policies (or lack thereof) are actively hurting their lives. This legislation will do that.

I do not think somebody as uncharismatic as Mark Zuckerberg should be anywhere near politics. Plus, the opposition research about what type of data Facebook collects on its users almost writes itself. Most people don't understand how technology works, but they do understand being spied on.

LOL - this is hilarious. After letting the House hang themselves, the Senate is just "nevermind".

Never doubted that Republicans are every bit the scumbags a lot of people believed them to be. Just straight up class warfare, racist scumbags. Talk about blood on your hands. Wow.
