Mike D'Antoni on how Rockets can improve after Game 1 rout:"We missed 28 wide-open 3s." HAHAHAHAHA, talk about a perfect answer to show you are not worried about a let down for game #2!
It's a witty response with truth but he's also right. Rockets left a lot of points on the table in spite of a 39 point lead at one point in game 1. They should have led by 50 at some point. It was almost as if many of those 3s (good shots) didn't go in because the ball just had a conscience.
That's the same as making 30-38 two point field goals, or shooting 60-70% from 2. You shoot the two with that proficiency you can't be beaten.
It will be interesting to see If the Spurs can defend the three point line. I hope Jim is aggressive attacking the rim to start the game. I have a feeling they are going to get out on those shooters and I don't want him to overthink the game and come out throwing the ball away.
James Harden will never be perfect... but if he hasn't earned your trust by now, he never will. He's going to make the right decision 95% of the time on offense.
That's the thing. They kept saying the Rockets wouldn't keep the hot shooting in the series. We all know 22 makes out of 50 attempts is not that hard for this team to replicate. Our biggest enemy is us. If we keep turning the ball over and/or become indecisive, that's when things will turn against us.
Mikey forgot that we also missed 3 wide open free throws. 88% FT and 44% 3pt aren't nearly good enough.
I feel like he's giving the Spurs some extra motivation by calling them "wide open". I'm guessing he said that with his little side smirk that he gives in all his post-win interviews... Feels like a slight to the Spurs' defense.
It's the same old story all year round. We are not able to come up with solutions to changes in team strategy. Westbrick's iso's bailed us out. The coaching staff and the players have to simulate the Spurs's moves as best as possible, so we can slow their execution.
