BTW, whether you like who they took or not the cost to move from 25 to 12 is very much in line with the going rate for that kind of move in the NFL draft. Look at what KC gave up to get to 10, or what the Rams and Eagles gave up last year to get from the teens to the top. The Texans paid the going rate. They didn't get taken to the cleaners, or anything.
Browns traded back into the first. Jumped Pittsburgh. Have to assume it's for Kizer, who Pittsburgh has been linked to.
Me last offseason: I have no idea if this is going to work, but they had to take a gamble to fix the QB position. Great move Me this offseason: I commend them on taking the risk, and I'm impressed that they realized their mistake so quickly and corrected it Me draft night: I have no idea if this is going to work, but they had to take a gamble to fix the QB position. Great move.
Yeah, and they gave up a ton more. Doesn't matter whether you like who they took or not. The price is for moving from draft slot x to draft slot y. Rams and Eagles also moved from 15 and 8 respectively, not from 25. Tell me, what did KC give up to move from 27 to 10 this year? I personally would never ever move up, but if you are going to do it, you're going to have to pay. On my team, I'd be trading out of the first for extra 2nd's nearly every year.
And they sat at 8 and 15. Not 25. They did it without giving up any picks in this year's draft. I don't like trading up but I'm okay with this one.
Watson scored a 20 on the test. It isn't the highest score but it also isn't so low that it is alarming or shows a lack of effort taking the test. A lot of very good to Hall of Fame QB's have had a similar score. Bret Favre, Derek Carr, Dan Marino, Terry Bradshaw, Vinny Testaverde, Steve McNair, Jim Kelly and Jeff George all are successful QB's off the top of my head that scored around 20 or less. I am sure there are others I can't think of off the top of my head. I want to say that Rothlisberger didn't have a high score either.
I am incredibly stunned at how the Texans had to go up quite a bit to get Watson. I am more stunned at how quickly a team went after Mahomes... This would be the primary reason why the Texans made a huge move to go get their guy. IMO...think they expected Watson to be available a bit later, but made a move once Mahomes went very early.
It's crazy this happened, then watching David sCarr on NFL Network. Texans only franchise First Round QBs. Watson's potential is EXCITING, and scary. If he balls, the extra pick won't matter.
