Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports there is "growing chatter" the Jaguars will select Clemson QB Deshaun Watson with the No. 4 overall pick. The general consensus around the draft community is none of the available quarterbacks are worth a pick in the top-five, but that is not enough to prevent a couple from coming off the board in the first four picks -- the Browns are rumored to be considering UNC QB Mitchell Trubisky at No. 1 overall. Of course, this could all just be bluster from teams hoping to goad one of the quarterback-needy organizations into a trade up. We will find out for sure tonight. ___________________________ Schefter this morning on Mike & Mike expects(thinks? heard?): -2 QBs in first dozen picks (Trubisky, Watson) -Fournette, McCaffrey in Top 10 -Haason Redick top 12-13 pick
Idiot Jags should have learned from the Bortles blunder. That franchise is doomed. Maybe it should move to London after all. If they make a smarter decision at #4, I take it all back.
1st 3 rounds on Saturday, rest on Sunday is how I remember it being. Now everything has to be a primetime event. ****, the NBA is hosting their own awards show this year. Assholes.
I'm really worried about the Patriots and what Belichick is cooking up right now. They have already owned the offseason with all their acquisitions including; Brandin Cooks, Stephon Gilmore, Dwayne Allen, and Kony Ealy. Yet, the Patriots still have Jimmy Garopolo and Malcom Butler as potential trade ammunition for a draft bonanza. The AFC title chances for the Texans were already looking slim and could very well be over tonight depending on who the Hoodie decides to fleece with his draft trading.
As crazy as it sounds, I'd give Belichick a call right after the Browns take their QB and offer #25 for Garopolo take it or leave it. Chances he'd hang up but worth a shot.
Me too, I love that idea and have been advocating the Garoppolo trade all offseason, but I have a gut feeling Belichick is gonna hoodwink some poor schmuck for a king's ransom. If Browns go for Trubisky at the top, then Belichick might flip Garoppolo for Garrett to the desperate 49ers knowing the QB whisperer Shanahan needs a QB to secure his regime.
The combination of Roger Goodell getting the treatment from Philadelphia fans and the 1st pick Myles Garrett staying home, I would say karma is coming for the NFL and the arrogance of turning the draft into a 3 day primetime carnival.
